Munch, I neither defended nor supported Newt because we got 51 seconds of a speech and as I noted no story. If you have a link to the full story with even some opinions from the author I would love to read it. This will be my third time asking for it as well. The link does not go to the story and the path I followed once on his website had no "story" to speak of, simply a video clip with a one paragraph caption. No educated person can make an informed decision on a speech from a 51 second sound bite. I asked if anyone had the link to the entire speech for a reason. If it is on CSPAN on some such that would be fantastic. We could view it in its entirety and make a judgement whether or not we support or disagree with his stance.

YOU made leaps that he intended to fire janitors to hire the kids. How do we know he wasn't talking about new schools. How do we know he wasn't talking about when they hire new staff. You assumed the worst. I didn't assume anything.

Oh, and WE, the village idiot act is getting old from you.

According to the LA Times, he said:
"Most of these schools ought to get rid of the unionized janitors, have one master janitor and pay local students to take care of the school. The kids would actually do work, they would have cash, they’d have pride in the schools, they’d begin the process of rising."

I guess we're splitting hairs. getting rid of doesn't mean firing... I guess.

Newt is a piece of shit. Career politician turned Lobbyist now running for President.

GOP Presidential candidate, Newt Gingrich, recently defended his stance on child labor laws. He previously said that children as young as nine in poverty stricken areas should be given janitorial jobs, mopping floors and bathrooms and be paid at much lower rates than adults. Gingrich claimed that changing child labor laws would benefit poor children because they have no work ethic unless it involves crime in a campaign stop in Iowa.
"Really poor children, in really poor neighborhoods have no habits of working and have nobody around them who works so they have no habit of showing up on Monday
They have no habit of staying all day, they have no habit of I do this and you give me cash unless it is illegal.."

Really Newt? I find this offensive and disturbing that he makes poor people and their children out to have no work ethic's and only get their money from crime.
his idea is pointless and irrelevant. since this is an issue that would have to go before a local school board, I don't think they would vote for this idea even it offered budget savings, interesting idea tho.

Why so opposed to kids working? It would be good for them. We aren't talking sweatshops here, we're talking about using a broom or a mop, and learning responsibility.

I don't support Newt, but this isn't a bad idea.

BTW, the hospital bed request for divorce has been proven to be a lie. Newt never did that. Keep up the news, ok, Munch?
