Houston is less Hobby-friendly than Dallas and other places. We need Kathy Whitmyer back as Mayor. Back in the 80s and 90s, the Hobby scene in Houston rocked.

We may have a nation-wide opportunity this next election. Bernie Sanders is a crazy-liberal Socialist. Maybe with Saunders and a a crazy-liberal congress we could get the Hobby de-criminalized or legalized at least like in Canada.

I would tend to agree with that statement. Socials are great. The hardest thing about socials are:

1. Finding a nice, safe, private location.
2. Finding enough people to invest because they are not really "money makers".
3. Screening people properly.
4. Finding the people who have the time to host the event.

here in Houston, a LE-busted Christmas Social pretty much killed the old ASPD. That was nine years ago in 2010. In hobby-time that is several generations of providers and hobbyists . . . memories are short.

Yeah, I'd like to see a social scene here, but I would be warey.

On the positive side: Given a positive resolution of the four points above . . . I have long thought that a Super Bowl party would be an interesting hobby social. With aa controlled private venue we could heve multiple 100 square boards at several levels of buy-in. There has to be a way to arrange the pay-out to include some matching up hobbyists and providers for short-time, overnight or a four day cruse . . .depending on the buy-in (no buy-in for providers).
