Tara:

If you love the pet and it brings you joy, then life is too short to deny yourself a companion pet.

Will some hobbyists, who are too tightly wound and fastidous, stop seeing you because you have a kitten? Maybe, but if they are that obsseive compulsive then chances are they would eventually find another excuse. As for me, if you are providing great services, and you are respectful of your clients boundries, then everything should be ok.

As I said in another post recently, I love cats, especially if they're cooked just right with a lemon-butter sauce and some garlic. But seriously, I'm highly allergic so that would make it a deal killer for me.

Its not that I am not an animal person, I have children lol and thats enough for me.

I am a firm believer that pets should be trained and I am really not fond of them being in the house.

I think its absolutely disgusting for people to allow pets on the furniture.

That is a huge pet peeve of mine. UGH, I do not want your pet dander when I come to visit, nor do I want your pet jumping all over me!

I love animals really but I have mild allergies and am very clean.

I think some should be considerate of others when it comes to this.

Unfortunately, I suffer from allergies and cats/pet dander is a problem for me. It doesn't matter how well you clean, if a cat's been roaming around in the house, my sinuses will dang sure let me know. Now if you don't clean the litter-box it might open them back up again...?? But that's kind of a mood-killer.

I dig that your heart's in the right place though, Tara. Really.
Unfortunately though, cats are a deal-breaker for me.

Suggestion: if you want to have pets at your incall ~~>Goldfish.

They make great appetizers too! Heh!

I love animals. That being said, the better course is not to have one at an incall because it is a place of business and 1) not everyone loves animals; 2) some are allergic; and 3) a few are even phobic.

Bad idea. I can remember being at a few incalls and picking cat hair out of my mouth...not from the pussy I wanted.

Cats don't obey boundaries like dogs so its especially difficult to say you will keep the kitty and restrict him/her to one room. Good idea, but it doesn't work.

Well thanks for the advice everybody. I have given the cat to a friend of mine. I will stick to the animals at my home and leave my work animal free. I am just a sucker when I see animals that are homelss.

I can't watch the ASPCA commercial with Sara Mclachlan in the background! The water works come on!

I hate to see homeless animals too!

Pets don't belong at an incall for all of the reasons mentioned: Allergies, pet hair, and well, what does it add to the overall experience?

My pet at the incall story: Visited a lady for a massage, was a lot of confusion, now I know I got stuck with a bait & switch, but that is another story.

During the massage, the therapist did not secure the door, and this German Shepherd pushed the door open and wandered in. His head was about even with the height of the massage table. So, while this very strange lady is giving me a massage by holding her hands 6" from my body and describing the bad vibes she is drawing from my body, I have a large dog staring me eye-to-eye. Never wanted to end a massage as fast as that one.

The only pets at an incall should be kittys that like to be petted and kissed and licked, but they should never lick back.

Glad you found a solution Tara.

Tara, I knew you had a soft heart for innocent animals. I'm glad you found an appropriate home. Honey, you can't be the aspa, but maybe you can help support them and let tet them take care of the strays that need a home.

Berk, I agree with you regarding animals inside the house.

When I have had providers over to my place, they have always asked to see my cat which I lock in a spare bedroom during out time together. It has always been a nice little meeting of provider and furball just after the session. If you have a place to lock the little guy away during the session I do not see a problem. You should also have a place to lock away your cat too. :-)

+1 FWOG...

I know many people that are allergic to cats (some even get a severe rash)...Unfortunately, just keeping a cat in a separate room doesn't do anything to mitigate the allergic reaction--I think it has something to do with the dander which gets everywhere if a cat resides at an incall.

That said, I think it's great that people love animals, and it's admirable when someone goes above and beyond to save an animal from an uncertain fate at a shelter.

Peace....

I say it is a wonderful thing that you wish to rescue a cat from an uncertain fate at a pound or shelter.

Do it babe but please have a separate room where the cat can stay if your customer is allergic to cats.
