whats shameful is your inconsiderate dismissal of Jefferson and, certainly by extension other founding fathers, by the hanging around his neck some millstone of having slaves, as if because of that he is delegitimized and his words easily dismissed.
If thats not your point by attacking him in this manner then what is it?
why mention the slave aspects or judge people of over 2 centuries ago by your superior behavior today if thats not your point? is not every one flawed or make mistakes in some degree or other? are you not a product of your time? and then to whom will you listen? i seem to recall the rabid defense of clinton and his mistreatment of women in this place rather recently. now that was judging someones behavior now by the mores of today.
in addition, the constitution and the men of that time did set in motion the impetus and the way to change the society in which they found themselves.
thats what liberals do, delegitimize the founders and therefore the constitution. therefore you can claim to school children and the aggrieved that your changes are good, your living "interpretations" of the constitution are best and a reverence for and appreciation of the founders and the words of constitution can be discarded.
argue the position and the quote and even its application, but the attack is
SHAMEFUL!

21st century values? Slavery was NEVER ok, just because it was profitable.
You are trying to justify this because everyone was doing it? Is that your rationale?
You are obviously not the descendant of slaves as I am otherwise you would never say anything so foolish and ignorant. The question is mote.
Answer this question.
Who wrote the song Amazing Grace and what was his background?

It was Africans who were bringing Africans from the interior, marks-rocks-with-pee. For you to project all that was evil with the slave trade entirely onto Europeans for what happened 300 hundred years ago -- and what is still happening today -- in Africa is both ignorant and hypocritical.
BTW, several cultures suffered slavery throughout history. The word "slave" has it base origin in "Slav" -- a European people and culture! So get the fuck over your pretentious martyrdom, marks-rocks-with-pee!

Scurry and deflect, marks-rocks-with-pee. It remains, your projecting all that was evil with the slave trade entirely onto Europeans for what happened 300 hundred years ago -- and what is still happening today -- in Africa is both ignorant and hypocritical.

Thomas Jefferson was a great man. He was not a perfect man. His imperfections don't take away from the truth of his words or signifcance of his accomplishments.
Liberals, constantly criticize the founders, because they hate America. A high percentage of the country (liberals) thinks America has no right to exist. No country can survive when that belief becomes the norm. When the majority of voters hate the country, they vote for leaders who also hate the country; that's when the country dies.
