Great idea, I'd love to see it!

It would be nice to have a "sandbox" focused on interesting and humorous things other than politics. Obviously, a lot of people love to debate political issues. And I'm no exception, especially when the subject is economic policy. But all the political talk has crowded out almost everything else, and no doubt turned off a lot of people who enjoy a bit of chat about various topics unrelated to politics.

So if we are blessed enough to get a new forum dedicated to politics, what would you name it?

The Political Stage?

The Political Pundits Forum?

Woodward & Bernstein's Political world?

Political Discussion Forum?

The House of Politics?

The Political Litterbox?

Post your ideas here, please. I think we might be close to having it...

How about waste of time and energy, it will only become another room of people shouting their view with no interest in even listening to the opposing side point of view or keeping a open mind.

But they can do it in their very own forum for the folks who can tolerate that stuff...

Like the Spiderhole, but for politics..

I would be in favor of keeping it simple.

Maybe just "The Political Forum" or "Political Talk."

Or maybe "Political Quagmire!"

This is a great idea.

It is kinda like making a restaurant smoke free. Smokers should not run out all the other customers who don't want to smell smoke.

I'm not sure this is a winnable fight. I just looked at a thread about a pretty strange ice flow incident in MN and the insults started flying in post #2.

Ban politics, someone will hate on you loving puppies.

Johnny, what fight? Have you read this whole thread? You are correct that people will debate politics and often quite heatedly and it is not not unusual that the posters engage in personal attacks.

The win/win is that they will have a place to discuss it dedicated to politics and not overwhelm other forums with political topics. If you can't stand the heat, you do not have to go into that forum. Nobody is banning politics here. The users here want to and will talk about it even if it was banned.

If you would like politics banned, you should start a separate thread.

I can't see it happening. Too many things are connected to politics today and I don't think the mods want to get into that argument.

Things connected to politics in the last month;
crime
genetically modified food
death
healthcare
the military
the environment
taxes
the environment
corruption
escorts
pussy
redemption
drugs
abortion
I could go on but I think you see the point.

What's next; keep another forum "politic free zone" ?

The Sandbox was specifically designated to accommodate political threads; which were removed from Diamonds and Tuxedos; hang out in that forum if you don't like the Sandbox !
