Ok, let's keep this thread alive. I'm willing to help The Hawk if he still wants to do this. If not, I'm willing to be the point man. If y'all still want to get this on, I'm willing to organize this and will borrow heavily from ck1942 who organizes awesome events in SA and Austin.

We've got a small but talented group down here in S. Texas that could benefit from a little get together. No drama, no indiscretions, but a place where we can meet those in the hobby. As you all do, I really wanna know if Roy D. Mercer talks like that in real life!

This will be an invite only event, and you can be certain that I want max participation but need to be sure that our group is safe and verified. Ladies and distinguished gentlemen of our humble group, please hit me up with a PM of your interested to do this. Because of RW commitments, I can't promise anything before the end of October, but I've got my costume already so that may work out just fine.

What I DO need help with is suggestions of a location that offers a semi-private room that is willing to block it off for us.

Additionally, we need to come up with a good name for our group, thoughts?

There's at least 3 women who showed interest PLUS Salma's Connection, so that would be a very good start. I hope we can find a date that works for y'all.

I need to know the guys that would be willing to show up. This is a good time to meet the ladies of our area.

A few points and pointers.

== Gatherings are not illegal unless illegal things occur. That is why the rules exist (link in my signature) and why organizers and hosts == and, indeed all participants == insist on the rules.

== Which is why screening and vouching is vital.

The better events in my opinion are "meet and greets" which are what they are: gatherings, not parties. No "business"is discussed.

Socials tend to be more of a party, like the annual San Antonio Hollow Weenie (shameless plug!) which also have been going on more than 10 years.

Parties are more about drinking and socializing, not made for more than a 2 or 3 minute hug, handshake or brief exchange of pleasantries.

M&Gs give all involved time for longer discussions. A chance to get to know someone a bit more.

I think there are more positive aspects to a public venue gathering. jmho, of course, but I have years of experience both public and very private. Years.

That said I know of more than several public venues in CC that I have used in years past and more appear on my radar with a brief search.

I also know quite a few SA ladies who would definitely be interested in a CC event, assuming that they could do better than break even on their travel expeses.

No thanks, you guys enjoy the sausage. I'm speaking from past experience with Corpus socials. Lots of people say they will make it, and very few actually do.
