You're right there is different degrees of Socialism. Which one do you prefer?

Socialism by any other name (degree, color, etc.) is still socialism. Obama is a socialist, he is not a Lenin or a Stalin, but he is a socialist.

even though theres not one single indicator that points directly to Obama being a socialist, youre entitled to an opinion ... even as fucked up as it may be.
I totally respect how fucked up you are.

The problem is that Obama may make statements that could be attributed to a socialist. For example when he talks about having everyone on a level playing field. That would be a socialist idea. However, His actions are not quite that of a socialist. Even the dreaded Obama Care being referred to as socialized medicine would be a misnomer. While it does make medical care available to all Americans, it does not put the insurance companies into the hands of the workers, it does not make all medical care a public enterprise where no private competition would exist.
However, as a populist, he would support a political strategy based on a calculated appeal to the interests or prejudices of ordinary people. This is what democracy has become. He merely says that which is necessary to convince enough people to vote for him. Wether that be making promises that he can not or will not keep, or telling lies about the opposition. Romney could best be described as a Corporatist. He would represent the priviligized elite that Obama campaigned against.

At some point in time, a "fucked up" opinion morphs into a lost cause. JD is in the transitioning phase, as we speak!

Pretty fucked up Tex. Calling a desire to keep freedom in this country a "lost cause". You should hang up your ten gallon hat and start wearing a bonnet.

I know you have plenty of time to think while you're driving the dust mop around and around the gym floor, but how you got from bigtex's comment to your reply is a genuine marvel in irrational thought. You must have been dizzy from the several laps you had to make around the gym in order to get the floor all shiny and nice. Or, maybe it was the fumes from the wax you used on it later.

Now that we have the actual definition of socialism, it's pretty obvious that we libtard Dems need to ratchet up our game in order to qualify as socialist. "Controlling" production and the distribution of wealth at the level described in the above definition isn't even close to what is going on. JDB, by any other name (or color or creed or what-the-hell-ever) who is our self-appointed skolur and intellectual touchstone probably ought to familiarize hisself with the definition of what he is shouting about.
CHICKEN LITTLES, UNITE!!! don't look now, here comes the sky.....

I think the definition made it pretty obvious that Obama IS a socialist.

Mild
I prefer a very mild one.
I think some people just use the overall term "socialism" and think that is sufficient to condemn the concept altogether.
A country that temporarily helps its people when they are down will benefit in the long run.
If hard-working people are suddenly laid off, helping to tide them over until they find other work will benefit people and country.
. . . Isn't that what a good country is supposed to do for it's people?

I guess someone has to explain to Randy again. With our constitution and laws it makes it more difficult for a radical to be radical. Obama is a socialist but he is hampered by the Consitution and the GOP. So, no the country is not socialist...yet but we can look at what Obama has said, done, and championed to see the obvious.

"The obvious" is that you do not have the slightest idea what in the hell you actually believe or not believe!
Some people refer to it as conflicted!
