I would have no issue with that. Cycle them down to the circuit court of their choice. Give them Judge Emeritus status. Hopefully, most will just opt to retire.

Nope, absolute disaster, as it turns the Supreme Court into a political branch which defeats part of the checks and balance the U.S. Constitution set up.
