I'd go nuts without a good book to help pass the time and an MP3 player to crowd out the cabin noise.

BTW I recommend Gene Smiley's Rethinking the Great Depression. He covers post WWI farmer issues well, and he discusses in great detail how the break up of the Austro-Hungarian Empire destabilized European trade and markets; this, of course, had an impact on the banks and on the gold standard.

Absolutely. Inevitable and in some cases predicted by economists of the more macro sort. Currency volatility is a risk class that most don't understand. I know enough to say, "that's what I thought might happen..." but not enough to ever say, "this is what I think will happen."

And you gotta have noise-canceling headphones.
[BTW, pet bitch: the ipod earbuds don't fit my ears and keep falling out. You'd think with this product, they'd at least make the earbuds that would fit all purchasers. I wind up purchasing the ones at Brookstone. ]

I use the little Bose ones for the same reason. That and I have my own pet-bitch about Steve Jobs laughing at all the clones he's created with white spaghetti hanging from their ears.

Well, we certainly managed to get off Lauren's topic here, eh? Thankfully DG has his mind right where it needs to be. Personally, I like every activity at 30.000+ feet; the logistics of doing things in the confines and constraints of the aluminum tube among 150 or so strangers are absolutely intoxicating.
But to return the the scheduled programming, if it gets down to $.50, I am definitely buying a new 750! And I'll continue to hoard my gold, thank you.

I'm thinking London is talented enough to both read and hum to ya at the same time.

See this my true handicap as a potential blowjobber, I'd never get the job blown as I'd would still debating with Anne Marie about Thoreau and the limits and merits of free speech.

Since they're strangers it doesn't matter how much noise you make.
