Most of this is probably ladies from markets who regularly get the rate they are charging who are floating the idea of a visit and pre-booking to see if the trip is worth it. They have no concrete plans to visit. When the number of appointments at the rates they want don't pre-book, they just post a notice saying that the trip is cancelled. They do this in multiple cities they are considering and follow the money.
As for ladies complaining about their trip being slow, they failed to do what the ladies mentioned above did.
If I every visited NYC, LA, etc., I would certainly adjust my rates accordingly. But, I wouldn't visit Nowhere, Montana and accept $1.95 and a Big Mac. This is how some see our market.
