Here's a hypothetical for you. Let's say documents are discovered that prove Romney was a member of a group that shared all the beliefs of the Ku Klux Klan. Romney sought their endorsement, attended their meetings and formally became a member. Let's say that conservatives are required to defend Romney from this shocking new information and that their only defense is to say the official Ku Klux Klan headquarters denies that Romney ever joined. Would that clear Romney of being a racist? Would you accept that as a legitimate defense? No of course not. Why would Romney join a group that shared all the views of the Klan if he wasn't racist?
The New Party was clearly a socialist organization. It's clear that Obama was a member. Your defense that THE SOCIALIST PARTY says he's not a member of their group doesn't negate the fact that Obama joined a socialist group, and is therefore a socialist.

Bernie Sanders is a senator from Vermont and is a self described socialist. He caucuses with the Democrats, but is officially an independant. By your reasoning, unless he's a member of the Socialist Party USA, he's not a socialist.
To say that a person isn't a socialist unless they officially join the Socialist Party USA, is absurd. It's like saying you can't be an environmentalist unless you join Greenpeace.

You seem stuck on this. Let me help you get unstuck. There is DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE that contradicts the self-serving denials of certain "members" of the party. DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE that Obama did in fact join the party.
No, he didn't join the Socialist Party, and nobody's claiming that he did - at least not in the NRO article.
I guess you'd have to READ the article to see this. But I've seen nothing in any of your posts that suggests you've actually READ the article. I imagine National Review to you is like sunshine to a vampire.
There is supposed to be a much fuller account of this in the print article coming out in the June 25 edition. Would you like me to send you a copy ... in a plain brown wrapper so your roommates at the home won't suspect?

It's like someone going to NAMBLA meetings and accepting their endorsement, but insisting it's no big deal because they didn't join.
