Cleveland hosted it in 2020. They didn’t have any backlash. They’re doing just fine. At this point in time, who wants the DNC convention, Chicago, NYC, La, San Fran, Baltimore, Philly? They can have it. It’s so them.

The virtue signaling liberals in Mt Lebo with BLM yard signs will change their tune real quick when it’s their own neighborhood going up in flames.

^ this
out of the $44M, how much of it will go to fixing roads and bridges? It will only line the pockets of the hotel owners, the security teams, some restaurants and the people who sell Lets Go Brandon flags.

So you are against
1. Hotel maids and other staff making money
2. Waitresses and waiters making money
3. Store owners and loads of other businesses making money
4. The city and county making money from hotel taxes, sales taxes, etc
But I am sure you would be slobbering over having the DNC come instead

Fuck em all. I don’t want the DNC or the RNC here. I’d rather have Run DMC come to town.

I'm certainly not against any hard working individual making money from an event, but I don't own a business, I'm not a waitress and I'm guessing the tax revenue is negligible. If even part of the $44M would actually benefit the residents, like lowering my taxes, fixing a road or bridge, improve social services, or improving overall life of every resident in Allegheny County, I don't care who comes to town.
I would be less concerned about the potential conflict if the DNC came to town, but I certainly wouldn't be slobbering over it.

Oh no! Some people will profit and not every penny will be wasted by government, can’t have that in a civilized society.

Well obviously you are against any hard working individual making money from an event given your comments on this thread
So besides direct taxes like the hotel tax and County sales tax that would be generated from all this extra business, you also have the indirect taxes and spending from all those workers making extra tips and money, paying income taxes on that and likely spending some of it to further fuel the economy
But because it is the RNC and not the DNC you are close minded about economically benefiting the city

Having either convention would be fine by me. Large conventions and shows do drive some short term benefits. A regular, sustainable rotation of convention tourism would be a good thing.
Would Pgh get a bounce in other tourism from hosting? Probably.
After a couple years of pandemic issues, an influx of non-local cash would be a positive thing.
