I'm not sure if its because people like to rationalize this hobby to themselves or what. But, I notice when a lot of people speak on the hobby on these boards they leave out the part about money exchanging hands for a service. I find it humorous that people try to inject some sense of moral responsibility onto the monger like we are supposed to lower our standards because she is "trying her bestest" or its all that she can offer.

I never felt guilty about participating in the Hobby. Perhaps if I were married, there would be a legitimate reason for guilt if I was deceiving the wife about being exclusively hers physically, but as a single guy? Sometimes I wonder if the root reason for the dislike of the Hobby by the mainstream is that it does allow guys to have sex with ladies 'out of their league' without having to earn that right in the mainstream dating arena.

Hostility to the provider is based on the fact that her business is based around allowing men to dodge the rules of the dating/marriage market.

I think the dominant form of hostility towards sex work is that it gives women economic potential, primarily, and that we get to control our own bodies, secondarily. After that, the third most important hostility comes from women who I'll class as wives for now, because they see their errant husbands as mere putty in our silken claws. The Wife Class will always blame the woman though, whether it's p4p or civvie cheating.

Everyone knows men with resources have the pick of the litter when it comes to pussy, and it's always been that way. This has only recently come under scrutiny, so I doubt any major form of hostility towards sex work is due to men getting to play outside of the rules, as this is completely within the rules that men made to begin with.

I think it's inherently classist that it works this way, and I do sex work partially as an artistic stance against capitalism, but I think that's a discussion for another time and place.
