I think you've reacted to the silly paranoia reflected in some of these posts, but gone overboard.

The default behavior should always be no sign of recognition.

We are not just men and women, we are folks mutually engage in criminal activity, and that creates at least the potential for a dynamic that you (as one party in a chance meeting) may not be able to accurately estimate. Chances are no ill will come of saying something, but there is the chance that you could royally fuck up someone's situation. So you don't take the chance.
