Yes, you are right when it comes to sarcastic and when lowgear went off on me I thought of it in the same way as my college buddies. Male bonding is cursing each other out sometimes and seeing how far the other can be pushed and the next day we act like best friends again. There were times we would beat the hell out of each other but not to the point of hospitilization. Boys will be boys.
