The IRS singled out conservative groups; they apologized; now the whitewash of the Obama IRS begins...it aint' gonna work............
And Nixon didn't abuse the IRS - that is urban legend.................
Dem. Max Baccus says that over the next several weeks the revelations of what the IRS did will get even worse; there is alot more damning information to come out...............
But the Obamazombies will try to spin, deflect, and yell "it's Nixon Fault" !!!!!!!

Just a matter of time; put people under oath and watch Congress investigators work their way up the food chain....it is likely there was coordination between Team Obama and the IRS special unit that handled this scandal..............
It isn't a coincidence that all this profiling happened with the rise of the Tea Party, the overwhelming 2010 mid term elections, followed by Obama's war against patriotic Conservative Americans..........it is all intended to protect Obama's re-election.....this didn't happen in a vacuum by a few low level IRS agents.

If it was urban legend, then why was it the second article of impeachment the House Judiciary Committee approved? Doh! If by "urban legend" you mean history that isn't favorable to conservatives, then yes, I agree.

No, Nixon used IRS to abuse his percieved "enemies". Nixon also tried to use the BLS for his own purposes but failed. It happened under FDR, Reagan, Clinton and Bush too. If they didn't do it explicitly, then it was done to some extent under their administrations. This was much less after Nixon because of Congress.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...301630836.html
"After Richard Nixon took office, his administration quickly created a Special Services Staff to mastermind what a memo called "all IRS activities involving ideological, militant, subversive, radical, and similar type organizations." More than 10,000 individuals and groups were targeted because of their political activism or slant between 1969 and 1973, including Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling (a left-wing critic of the Vietnam War) and the far-right John Birch Society.
The IRS was also given Nixon's enemies list to, in the words of White House counsel John Dean, "use the available federal machinery to screw our political enemies."
The exposure of Nixon's IRS abuses during congressional hearings in 1973 and 1974 profoundly weakened him during the uproar after the Watergate hotel break-in. The second article of his 1974 impeachment charged him with endeavoring to obtain from the IRS "confidential information contained in income tax returns for purposes not authorized by law, and to cause, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, income tax audits or other income tax investigations to be initiated or conducted in a discriminatory manner." Congress enacted legislation to severely restrict political contacts between the White House and the IRS.
Hey, this wasn't good, but it wasn't a conspiracy unless you think (as you obviously do) that everything done under Obama (with his participation or without) is a nefarious conspiracy. It isn't near as bad as what Bush did to the NAACP where there is a letter from the IRS stating the audit was triggered by opposition to George Bush and threatening fines and penalties.
"The agency denied a culture of bias. They said the audit was triggered by staffers in a satellite office" Sound Familiar?

The Articles of Impeachment is a charge; the charge was NEVER proven to be true..............
James Bovard's claim that "more than 10,000 individuals and groups were targeted because of their political activism or slant between 1969 and 1973, including Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling (a left-wing critic of the Vietnam War) and the far-right John Birch Society" is complete historical conjecture.................... .
He doesn't prove a thing...............he just offers up the typical anti-Nixon IRS rants.
Bovard's claim that Pauling was audited by the IRS, a very famous person, is not documented......even Pauling's biography makes no mention of such an audit !

No, the profiling happened with a landslide of admittedly political organizations applying for 501(C)(4) status after Citizens United.

Oh, but torture and death in Abu Ghraib did, right? George Bush was the Commander in Chief and should have had direct chain of command control over the military while we were prosecuting two wars, but in this case "only low level soldiers were responsible".
OTOH, the IRS, a semi-autonomous agency under Treasury and lead by a Republican commissioner appointed by George Bush and politically firewalled from the White House under law by Congress must, in your words, have been politically motivated and directed to target (by questions and delays - oh horror of horrors subjecting conservatives to questions and delays is FAR worse than torture and death of foreigners) conservatives. How believable is that? Doh!!!!
Apparently you really do think Obama is as stupid and lazy as you often claim because I can tell you, if I were Obama and wanted to use the full force of the government illegally to ensure my election I sure wouldn't use the IRS to target Tea Party groups by making them answer additional questions and delay their eventual approval. My gosh, there isn't much that is more dastardly and destructive to conservatives than questions and delays!!!! I suppose the nefarious plan was to hurt their feelings so much that they wouldn't vote.
Hey, we can call it Obama's "Suppression by Question" scandal! Awesome!

No, he just resigned because he was a little tired and needed a vacation, right?
Six of the Committee's 17 Republicans joined all 21 Democrats in voting for the article because it was an urban legend, right?

Partial is correct, maybe the Tea Party should have tried to do more work in Kenya that swaying elections here in the States!
When the Barack H. Obama Foundation sought tax-exempt status to raise money for good works in Kenya, the Internal Revenue Service provided quick help.

Get a GRIP Cons (Whirly)! It was questions and delays, not audits or harassment or fines or prison or torture or killing, dammit!!!
If anything, except for asking for certain donor lists (which have since been destroyed or so says the IRS) the liberal and progressive organizations should have been vetted further, especially if in their initial questionnaire they admitted to political activities, rather than the other way around. That would have required more staff and resources (or even more delays) and thus more money to the IRS which the TP and Cons are totally against however. Too bad, so sad.
"Scandals" will soon die, Dems will take house in 2014 and Hillary the WH in 2016 for Eight more years!

Amen, besides the IRS "Scandal" was a false flag operation by the Republicans under Rove through the Republican IRS Commissioner who was just about at the end of his appointment and had nothing to lose. That is why the House is not investigating it too vigorously because if they appointed a special prosecutor that would likely surface. They figured they could mess with the TP little guys, but not hurt them too much (you know, questions and delays) while smearing Obama at the same time. Two birds you know. After all, who is renowned for dirty tricks even on their own (like the black illegitimate baby accusations on McCain), why Republicans, of course!
I'm just going to sit back and watch while these scandals get swatted like flies for now only to pop up later to hurt Republicans. Hey, they not only know dirty tricks, but how to shoot themselves in the foot!

......... yea, the latter can be addressed through "judicial review" ... AKA "due process."
