It's like flu if flu killed 900 Americans per day. If we define "deadlier" as "killing the most people" (and seriously, any other definition is so ludicrous as to constitute outright deception) COVID-19 is much, much more deadly than flu. It's currently THE leading cause of death for Americans.
Don't bother calculating the "mortality rate." It's unknown because we don't know how many have been infected; and it's unimportant, only ever brought up as a distraction. The important number is mortality.
If you're not happy unless you're using math, count toe-tags and divide by one: that's the mortality.
