I am 64 years old. I make a very good living. I started paying into social security when I was 14. I easilly max it out mid year.

Now you are telling me that I cannot get what is rightfully mine.

Yeah the benefits are rightfully yours but for the sake of saving the economy which sustains them you'll have to give up just a part of them. No one anticipated that medicine would advance and change the costs and demographics. If everyone else gives up a little perhaps you can also.

And who are all these people "who don't want to work?"

Are they the military retirees who after only 20 years of service draw a pension until they die perhaps fourty years later? What work are they doing in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s which justifies receiving all those pension payments?

There's a lot of things in the system which are relics of the past and need to be reformed to comport with changed conditions.

I have a lot I could personally say on this, but this last year I've been studying everything I can get on finance and business (I know that's very little time, but look what you can do in very little time.) Do you know WHY the very rich don't work hard? They worked their fucking ass's off years before you started bitching, because you weren't smart enough to figure out the market's. <- that is a generic statment aimed toward progressive's. You create yourself. You either watch TV, post online, and bitch about how the "super rich don't deserve their money" (commie) or you spend your time studying all the financial newletters that come out and keep yourself caught up with what they might know and I might not. You save every single penny and then invest all your knowledge into the pennies you saved and begin your own empire. The Rich and the Poor will always exist. If the free market system would be allowed to flourish, the margin of poor to rich would lean drastically toward the rich side. You have everything you need in this country to make it to the top of what ever field you choose. You are an American. That's 90% of the work.


I've been hungry before. Hunger that clawed at your insides keeping you awake at night, dreading the thirsty morning, knowing there would be nothing. I worked until the blood flowed for a meal at one time. There is a great deal of mercy in my heart for the ones that need because I needed mercy (and still do, but for new more exciting reasons.) HOWEVER, I have little mercy for anyone that refuses to change their stars... OR refer to my majestic country as a train wreck.

For the record my family voluntarily gave up 15% to help with the pension issues. For those that don't understand compound interest, that's 15% X's the rest of our lives.
