So sorry you got ripped off. There are men who delight in taking advantage of women. He NEVER intended to pay you and you were trusting - which is a great quality to have but that can be a double edged sword in this business . As others have said, chalk it up to experience AND share his handle here or in the infoshare forum. Many of the guys here are great - others are legends in their own minds *smirk* but their reputations are well-known among the providers.
Ask the providers if you have questions - know that the ladies have your back, sweetie.

Two things I want to mention: when I first started out, as a provider, I was CLUELESS. An online guy friend hooked me up with a provider in L.A. so I could ask her questions - after a brief convo. she said (not too kindly) "Geez, You REALLY are new at this...take notes, honey!" *sniff*. This was in the newer days of ASPD (dinosaurs were still roaming the earth for those that remember) and I was able to ask advice from Amber (ASPD founder). She and I were never at risk of becoming friends - BUT, she did know the 'ins and outs' of the hobby. So, go to the women for advice, not the guys, because you MAY find a wolf who will work your naïveté to HIS benefit (shocking, but true!)

Secondly, MB, I had not heard the term 'douch-tube' and will now incorporate that into my bag of 'smarmy and choice insults'. *chuckle*
