Not quite true. Apple asked the two firms that build the phone for them about moving production to the USA. One said oh hell no and the other said it would double the cost of the phone so everyone just dropped the topic

So, Volkswagen built a $4 billion plant in Tennesse years ago and sourced 85% of the parts for the new Passat from the US. They were built in Germany before. Passats are still built in Germany for the European market. Apple can build a fuckin phone in the US.
