Note the number of pipelines that already crisscross Nebraska. Many of them were laid in the '60s and have been there for 50 years.

This is what happens when you let totally unqualified people make decisions concerning major projects that will aid the Country for decades to come.
Most of you are not old enough to remember when the Alaskan Pipeline was proposed. The same arguments were put forth then, but the adults won the arguement and it's safety record has been top notch.
Idiots.

And none of the pipelines have EVER leaked without immediate detection and none of the LEAKS have ever made it through the ground or into bodies of water far enough to contaminate any aquifers. SURE!
HELL, one East Texas pipeline leaked less than 10 years ago and the resulting pocket of leaked natural gas BLEW THE FUCKING SHIT out of a young couple who were minding there own business driving through the area when their car ignited the leaked natural gas.

This is the "talking point" that Obama is pissed off about because he has no control over Canada and cannot appease the eviro-nazis on this issue. It has nothing to do with the aquifer. My understanding is there's an oil pipeline already running thru the aquifer.
Have fun riding your unicorn to the polls. Hope your alarm clock is powered by Solyndra energy.

You have no comprehension of contingent liabilities and you seem incapable of thinking outside the box dictated by the Teapublicans. Grow a brain and realize there are other concerns.

Since you are both equally limited in comprehension, you get the same admonition gnadfly got - You have no comprehension of contingent liabilities and you seem incapable of thinking outside the box dictated by the Teapublicans. Grow a brain and realize there are other concerns.

Idiots? It's "argument" and "top notch" is not perfect. We've allowed those of you who think you KNOW something to foul the planet with OTHER than perfect safety and spill records.
Tell you what. I'll get you a ten foot pole and you can be a "target holder" at a gun range. Most of the people who practice their shooting are top notch. I know I am. But why don't you humor me and prove that people don't miss their targets by 10 feet or more.
You "Drill, Baby, Drill" yahoos are screaming to let them continue offshore production in deep water with the same 30 year old blowout protectors. Yep, you people who know so much are the ones destroying the planet.

Uh, the planet seems to be in fine shape. And please provide a link to your pipeline disaster.
Using your logic, we should not produce any more cars, because they can harm someone. And M&Ms are out, because you could choke.
Nothing is perfectly safe. Pipeline technology is very close to it. Why are you opposed to jobs for Americans?

The reason they are drilling in deep water is because the environmental nazis banned shallow water drilling.
I'd like to see a cite on that young couple. Maybe I can send flowers.
Remember this president also sent billions of dollars to Brazil to help them drill for their oil off the coast. Obama even said that he wants the US to be their best customer. I guess he wants the US to be a customer of China as well. Canada sends them the oil and they sell us the gasoline. Complete and udder stupidity.

Evidently you didn't find such an incident, or you would have posted a link to support your argument. Before man found a use for this stuff, it just oozed to the surface in useless pools of sticky, black pitch in places like Wyoming, Louisiana, California, Texas, Pennsylvania, etc.,: this stuff is a product of nature. Perhaps you have heard about La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. Think of the drilling and pipelines as preemptive despoliation.

Accidents happen and will continue to happen in every field of human endeavor. Technology has improved in the last 50 years, and it will continue to improve. Plus, at this point in history, the Keystone XL pipeline is certainly more viable than Solandra.

Which is safer?
Pipelines or tankers?
When a pipe breaks you turn off a valve.
When a tanker leaks you have chaos.
Would you rather have american jobs and cheaper energy?
Or would you rather create Chinese jobs and have all that oil floating on the Pacific Ocean in Chinese Tankers?

Yeah, we have thousands of off-shore oil rigs operating out there too....which cause NO prob....oh, wait.
He asked for some rerouting and additional safety measures in order to avoid a potential environmental catastrophe. It's reasonable and was the correct thing to do.
