Whenever you have a highly-motivated and organized group, however small, things are going to change. The silent majority becomes the sleeping majority, providing the opportunity for some motivated minority of people to seize the day. That is how US politics has worked from the beginning. Just ask Thomas Paine or Ben Franklin.

OK, without Googling it, who said this:

"If a vocal minority, however fervent its cause, prevails over reason and the will of the majority, this Nation has no future as a free society."

Exclamation Tales Of Woe

Damn, what a depressing thread this thing has become!

Worried about some low-level Russian spies and now you think the sky is falling?

Worry is an insidious bad habit because it always seems to have facts to support it, but it's just a bad mindset to fall into.

I think the root of your problem, JG, is simply sleep deprivation. 6 hrs is not nearly enough.

Turn off the news and get some sound sleep and stop bumming everyone out with your tales of woe!

JG, I don't think anyone would ever be able to tell when you are joking, if you really were. But sometimes, a lot (read... most) of us will use the smilies to indicate when things are in a funny manner and not serious. Try it out sometime. And I do not think we take things like you do? Wait, were you referring to yourself as the one with the mental condition? I'm confused. LOL.

God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen! Oops! Maybe that is my way saying God strike you dead, mmmmm.... or maybe not.

Okay, so this thread (as so many others) has gone from the topic to either trying to get the best of me or just demonstrating scorn.

Personally, I find it very boring. I came to terms with this problem many years ago. I mean how can you take anyone seriously who accuses you of talking too educated. Yeah, that was in my evals more than once. My vocabulary did not demonstrate my common roots or my enlisted status.

Well I take John Hillerman as my example. Who is Hillerman? Remember the haughty Englishman on Magnum PI? Jonathan Quayle Higgins? That Englishman was insufferable on so many other TV shows as well. I bet he was that way when he served in the US Air Force. Wait! An Englishmen in the US Air Force? Actually Hillerman was born in Denison, Texas. He decided that he wanted to sound educated so he cultivated an English accent. I on the other hand have amassed a large vocabulary which I love to use. Too bad my speaking voice belies my humble roots. Laugh if you want (glad to be so amusing) but I am what I am. Was that Popeye or Petruchio? You know, a cartoon or Shakespeare?

Man I wish we had a section here where people could debate/discuss in a more free-for-all style, where you wouldn't have to worry about threads being closed down or points given (within reason of course). A section where you could say what you want, minus outing personal info like real name, address etc.. Because you guys are too damn entertaining watching all this go back and forth. Bubba, any chance of that happening?

A: Richard Nixon (implying that the anti-Vietnam protesters were a vocal minority).

Not John Galt, but close.

John no one accuses you of "talking too educated" whatever that means...

Believe it or not, we do know the difference between Popeye and Petruchio. If you met my Wife you would understand why I personally would know...LOL.

My Mom's favorite saying for those who disagreed with her or had otherwise pissed her off was "God rot them". Word play on "They are wrought in God" from the King James Version of John 3:21. So...bless on that, "merry gentleman".

Some of us have learned over the years that pretentiously displaying our education only serves to alienate our audience by proving our pomposity.

Take the hint.

We first isn't talking too educated really being articulate....... sometimes I am reminded of the two guys talking on the prison phone on the show "in living color" there using big words to sound educated but not in their proper syntax. Example "I regurgitated the information with regards to the flattulation of the propaganda".

"Personally, I find it very boring. I came to terms with this problem many years ago. I mean how can you take anyone seriously who accuses you of talking too educated. Yeah, that was in my evals more than once. My vocabulary did not demonstrate my common roots or my enlisted status."

So you have talked to others about your problem in the past. So nothing seems to work for you huh, man thats real sad. Jethro had the same problem, drove uncle Jed nuts.
