The real reason I do not like to text has to do with voice inflection. There is a lot of things that can be understood by the tone of the voice, the inflections, the pauses, the irritation, the smoothness, etc.
Got it? None of this is available for a text. Texts are reserved for those I know. I have had very good impressions from a short voice message. I have also picked up on anger, hostility, and in general a pissed off attitude. I have also listened to a very sweet syrup voice that tells me the conversation is a little bit fake because she is talking at you, instead of with you. Be careful. Three of the ladies who talked that way were later given very negative reviews - but I picked up on the fake tone just from the voice.
The voice tone will let me know whether or not I want to go ahead with the visit. If I only get a text, it makes me very uncomfortable. If I am meeting a stranger I want to get as much information as I can before agreeing to see someone. A pimp can be sending the text instead of the girl.
Listen: really listen to what people say to you, and how they say it. The ability to listen is a developed skill, learn it. The best sales people listen to their clients instead of talking at them. Too many people don't listen properly because they are only getting ready for what they want to say.
