It's not what he says, its what he does, and that is what worries me.

Interesting point. Do you think that's because in a parliamentary system they are not limited to 2 terms? Btw...whilst I don't necessarily like all our prior (or even current) PM's I do like that they are not restricted to 2 terms.

Yes, it overturns 100 years of activist decisions and legislation. It goes back to the core of the Constitution. .And if corporations aren't persons, you can't tax them or prosecute them, or even figure out where they live for purposes of suing them in Federal Court; corporations have been citizens ever since the question was addressed far more than 100 years ago. It is not even in dispute.
Will the Supreme Court reconsider the eligibility of Obama to be President now?

hear hear....and amen
so much obfuscation, partianship and fluff
Alito mouthed the words ...NOT TRUE
foreign entities are already outlawed in contributing to american elections..remember clinton and al gore and the chinese connection.. and the words.."no controlling legal authority"?
As a former law professor...obama should know better..and of course he does..just the american ppl don't know better...
obama wishes for unique legal theories to be espoused by the courts to re-distribute wealth but attacks coherent, well reasoned law that doesn't sit well with his wishes...where is respect for an equal branch of government?
obama reminds me of someone who has stumbled upon a wonderful, lush garden, cool streams of water...fruit trees heavy with all manner of delicious bearings....he has no clue how it got there...but hes determined to divide it up.
and of course the old blame the previous administration is just not working any more.

Don't both parties do that?
This just in newly elected Senator Scott Brown was so impressed with the speech that he has decided to switch parties. Somebody in Dallas please comfort Ansley, she will be heart-broken!

Yes, he did a good job on the speech, however my concerns are that things will not actually come to fruition as he says. I mean as it stands now the things he promised prior to being elected still have yet to happen. Things have actually gotten worse. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I am begining to feel that he is more of an empty suit at this point. The person writing his speeches is very gifted, and he does a very good job delivering the speeches. We shall see within the next year if anything gets accomplished.

There is no difference between the parties, or not so as you'd notice. Both consider the American public to be unwashed masses fit only for service to their feudal masters. Both have expressed scorn for the Constitution. Both have applauded egregiously irresponsible fiscal policy, and voted for laws which weren't only unconstitutional but burnt the Constitution in effigy and took a piss in the smoking ashes.
Not that I'm a cynic, or anything. Ha.

Not a cynic, realist. Last paragraph is particularly true. Time for a hanging party in Washington. 100 senators ought to fit pretty well all around the Capitol. We'd have to move to the Mall buildings and lampposts for the House.

GOD the internet really is awful sometimes.
From Handmaids Tale modern day adventures of deep shame and societal branding(you would think some of these escorts were modern-day Hesters or something!!) to "Politicians feel we are the great unwashed"...well, its YOUR government and its a reflection of YOU. What have YOU done? Did you even fucking vote? Do you do anything but bitch? When did you last write a Senator-better yet, a senator who wasn't your own, in defense of/for your neighbours, hmmm?
Nevermind. I'm going to go eat a brownie or drink some champagne or get a Barneys employee fired, as I have lost my sense of humor.
Hanna, you are lovely(that is random), and I agree re: Obama's oration(that is not random )-he's quite dazzling to watch. He's like a Presidential Marilyn Monroe The sex appeal is all in the expressions!

I voted for Ron Paul. I've voted in every election since I was old enough. The last time I wrote my senator was four months ago, with my thoughts as a constituent on universal healthcare. Also wrote the congresscritters. With pen and paper and stamps and everything. The last time I wrote someone else's senator (and governor and congresscritters) was over the FLDS fiasco. As to what else I've done, I'm a freelance writer who specializes in political commentary and economizing.
I walk the walk. Am I entitled to speak now, or can I at least have some of that champagne? I'm merely giving a realistic view on how things are, not that I like it. I don't like it. It disgusts me that profit is more important than humanity, that lobbyists with a fat checkbook can have long heartfelt chats with my senator but I have yet to ever have one answer a letter, that our politicians are more concerned with the depth of their campaign chest than the needs and desires of their constituents. And they get away with all this because more fool those who still think everything will all turn out for the best in the end with no effort or thought on their part.

I know that I am side tracking this a little, but everytime that I watch the President speak and I see Nancy Pelosi in the back ground, I thank goodness that she didn't choose the path of being a provider. If I showed up at an incall and saw her at the door, it would definitely cure my addition to the game.
The woman is just scary looking.

My bet: unless a lower court rules that Obama is not eligible to be President makes it to the Supreme Court there is no way they take any of the cases; if such a ruling bubbles up they take the case and summarily overturn it.

I think is't just more of the same, false promises he can't possibly keep and blame Bush.
Got this e-mail today.
It's a slow day in a Mamou, Louisiana . The sun is beating down, and
the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and
everybody lives on credit.
On this particular day a travelling Shreveport salesman is driving
through town. He stops at the Hotel Cazan and lays a $100 bill on the desk
saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one in which to
spend the night.
As soon as the man walks upstairs, Bosco, the owner, grabs the bill and
runs next door to pay his debt to Boudreaux the butcher.
Boudreaux takes the $100 and runs down the street to retire his debt to
the Trosclair the pig farmer.
Trosclair takes the $100 and heads off to pay his bill at T-Boy’s
Farmer’s Co-op, the local supplier of feed and fuel.
T-Boy at the Farmer's Co-op takes the $100 and runs to pay his debt to
the local prostitute, Clarise, who has also been facing hard times and has
had to offer her "services" on credit.
Clarise rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with Bosco, the
hotel owner.
Bosco then places the $100 back on the counter so the travelling
salesman will not suspect anything.
At that moment the salesman comes down the stairs, picks up the $100
bill, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money, and
leaves town.
No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole
town is now out of debt and now looks to the future with a lot more optimism.
And that, my friend, is how the United States Government is conducting
business today.
