The government doesn’t care about revenue, they just spend what they don’t have anyways. The tax code isn’t about revenue, it’s social engineering. If they cared about tax receipts they’d significantly raise taxes on the poor and middle class and get rid of bullshit like the EITC. They could tax the top incomes at 100% and it still wouldn’t come close to meeting their spending. There’s simply not enough of them. The 40-100k income level is by far the largest pool of money out there.

Ed: Another big pool of money is people’s retirement plans. It is only a matter of time before someone decides to go after IRAs/401Ks/SEPs. I’m surprised they haven’t already.

I agree, it is unreal day after day they keep spending and borrowing more money. The funny part they give it to everyone except to the people they get the most off of. If your rich they have breaks for you, if your poor, they take care of them. If your in the middle you pay out the ass. Qualify for nothing. We will go bankrupted before it is all over with. Now they want to spend like 5 trillion extra.
