The same can be said about folks with a conservative bent. Unless of course you do not think you fall prey to the same laws of human nature. You are human aren't you Marshall?

Wow, you Tea Folks never seem to understand that Big Business is government. That is who runs the government. They use folks like you to fight their wars. You are for one and aganist the other! They are one and the same. Sooner you learn that concept the sooner you will actually be free. You are just a slave to big business.

If Big Business is government, it's because the politicians are corrupt and allowed it to happen.....it was their duty to the citizens not to do that...that is exactly why the Founding Fathers wanted less government....less government means less corruption.....Thank you so very much for helping me make my point!!@!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then why can they make contributions to politicians? You are exactly correct, they are not "We the People". Alito and Roberts are bought and paid for big business cronies. That is why folks like Doove and myself want the campaign contributions out of the system. Something you Big Business Tea Folks want nothing of. You crap in one hand and eat out of the other, makes no sense. You have been brain washed by supply side junk.

Capitalism is great. Competition is great. Big Business hates competition. Again big business runs government. Why do you think the Military Complex is so vast? Four or five companies bidding on all the God Damn contracts.
So what you support is not Capitalism, you support Crony Capitalism. Nothing more that private Socialism for a very few.

But you do not support less government, you support less government for folks you do not agree with. You support more government for things you agree with.
That is not smaller government. That is partisans politics 101. That is consumed by the ignorant masses to feed into the two party system.

Really? Well then why do 3 out of 4 Tea Party backers not support cutting Medicare?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thetic...icaid-medicare
The tea party movement is built on a shared belief of lower spending, smaller government and other fiscally conservative tenets.
But when it comes to the nation's two largest entitlement programs—Medicare and Medicaid—tea partiers say "hands off," a new poll finds.
Seventy percent of self-identified tea partiers oppose cuts to Medicaid and Medicare as a way to help repair the federal budget, according to a McClatchy-Marist poll released this week ( pdf). Just 28 percent of tea party adherents said they support those cuts

I use both hands for eating and neither for crapping in.
I was suggesting that Marshall might be happier if he followed my lead in hand etiquette.
It seems he is continually confusing which hand is which.

I question your numbers, but assuming they're correct.....
The Medicare system is one where people get more benefits from the system than they put in.......it's human nature to want more rather than less......it's human nature to want the things you were promised....it's human nature to want something YOU PAID FOR!
of course, the Medicare system was destined for bankruptcy the day it was created because you can't keep giving people more than they put in.....many people will end up with less than they put in.....
people are scared....they trusted [or were forced to trust] government politicians with their medical care....their trust was misplaced.....they would have been better taking the money they paid into the system and handling their medical care on their own!
GOVERNMENT FAILED AGAIN!

Fascist Marshall this is the point where all I have to do is hand you a mirror if you want to see personal insults.
Political views are beliefs. There is no right or wrong. It varies from each person.
That said, political science can go back and view the carnage. If you think Reagan's policy's that increased ''the share of wealth held by the top 1 percent of households has risen to 35 percent from 21 percent since 1979, while their share of income has more than doubled to around 20 percent.'' is a good thing, then bully for you. But you can not change the fact that that is wtf has happened.
I happen to think it is a bad thing.

Without fact-checking your numbers and assuming they are true:
You seem to think the pie stays the same size and you still don't discuss how globalization and social mobility play into that....how is the wealth and income of the lower 99% changed since that date? Did it go up, but not as much as the top 1%? Did it go up sufficiently to say people have advanced? How has the SAVINGS rate of the 99% impact those numbers.....there's millions of reasons that explain those numbers other than the top 1% stole from the bottom 99%....you are just full of hate and jealousy....
maybe if you were smarter and worked harder you'd be wealthier!....ooops........Umm mmm, well, at least worked harder......

You are still having trouble with the concept of Science vs Philosophy.
Science is stating the numbers. Such as: ''the share of wealth held by the top 1 percent of households has risen to 35 percent from 21 percent since 1979, while their share of income has more than doubled to around 20 percent.''
That is just a fact. Science has no right or wrong. It is just numbers. Numbers are the most beautiful thing to a person such as I. It is how I base decisions on whether something is working or not. It is not a belief. It in fact dispels false beliefs.
There is a right or wrong in stating the facts or the science of the matter. Either you stated correct facts or you did not. If you think those numbers are incorrect then make your case on why you think so.
Philosophy on the other hand, (that would be your shitty hand) are just opinions. "Is the fact/science that the top 1 % have done so well under certain policy's a good thing or a bad thing?" That is a Philosophical question. Just one persons opinion. It is a right or wrong question to each person. You are still for personal freedom and choice are you not? You do not want to shove your views down others throats do you? While I am in the teaching mode...Those are rhetorical question. Please do not go on a rant trying to prove some Tea Party crap-o-la.
It took me damn near fifty years to learn that little tidbit.

Okay Bub, lets try some numbers. Since its you, I'll try and keep things simple.
Say for the sake of argument that in 1979, there were 100 apple pies and 100 people. One guy gets 19 pies and the other 99, split 81 pies -- thus they have the equivalent of about 6.5 slices each (assuming 8 slices per pie.) Oh, but wait. That is gross pies. There is a progressive pie tax. The fat guy (from eating so many pies), with 19 pies has to pay 6 of them over to the government -- for a net of 13 pies. The other folks have to pay over a total of 12 pies -- so their net is about 5.5 slices each. You'll note that the rich guy has paid about 1/3rd of all the pie taxes (6 out of 18.)
Now Uncle Ronald cut the pie tax. For the rich guys, he reduced the tax rate from 30% to 20% and for other folks from 15% to 7.5%. Encouraged by this new tax structure, everyone got busy baking pies. Now, there are a total of 300 apple pies that have been produced. There is still one guy that has a lot of pies. But, its not the same guy, the old guy died of hardened arteries from eating too much pie. Instead there is a different guy who invented a better process for making pies and he produced 105 of them. He pays the new lower pie tax of 21 pies and still has a net of 84 of them. There are 195 pies that are split between the other 99 people. They have to pay a pie tax of 15 pies, so they have a net of about 14.5 slices each. The rich guy pays 58% of the pie tax (21 out of 36 pies).
True, The one rich guy (although a different one) has seen his net pie count grow substantially -- from 13 to 84. His gross share of all pies has increased from 19% to 35% even though his share of the pie tax has grown from 33% to 58%. But, the only point that is relevant is that the average Joe has seen his net pie count grow from 5.5 slices to 14.5 slices or a 160% increase. That's enough to induce sugar shock in the lot of them. Everything else is superfluous.
