Joe did have more power. The cop out that he reported it to people who ultimately would do whatever he told them to do is laughable.

He's a douche as much as Sandusky because he and ONLY him had enough power to cover this up and make it go away. Sorry Joepa your not JoeGOD.

Now about that recent email claim Mike Mcqueary did "stop" the act he says he saw. He didn't stop anything. Not physically. So he let it happen and did nothing. And he now claims he reported it to Police. Seems the Police say otherwise.

Police say no record of McQueary report found

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...ennstate-abuse

Now if you believe budman33 then Joe Paterno has more power than the Penn State campus police and the State College police and the Pennsylvania State police. i find that incredulous. Joe Paterno was a football coach, not Emperor of Pennsylvania.

it might be worth noting that Paterno's salary was about 500,000 a year. That makes him a one percenter. Maybe all those worthless bums, malcontents, criminals and rapists in this idiotic Takeover Wall Street movement should go camp out on Joe's lawn?

My point is that Paterno's salary is less than most top assistants at many major programs. He could have easily commanded a million plus salary at Penn State but didn't. And yes he deserves his 500,000 pension. every penny. He earned it which is concept those idiots protesting .. er freeloading on public parks don't seem to understand. And no i don't care one bit he transferred the title to his house solely to his wife. It ain't like she's going to divorce him over this or anything else. is JoePa covering himself from possible civil action? You bet he is and anyone in a similar situation would too. Any competent lawyer would advise just that. I would and if anyone else on this board in this situation claims otherwise then that's just bullshit.

people make mistakes. if all of us were perfect we wouldn't need laws or cops. Joe Paterno has done more and contributed more to many good causes than everyone on this entire board put together. this incident, however unfortunate does not destroy Joe Paterno's life's accomplishments and it shouldn't.

It would not see the light of day in a court of law, nor should it...the guy was a GA at Penn St in 1987-88.

There is this group of people that will not wait for all the facts to come out...that does not fit into the 24 hour news cycle. Not only are we a lazy nation, we are an impatient one!

Are you sitting down WTF? For the most part I agree with your argument. JoePa is not guilty until convicted in a court of law - it's supposed to be the American way.

yep it'll come out and decided in a court of law. And I really have no dog in this race i'm just spectating.

but YES JoePA had more pull in that little Penn State Universe that trumped Univeristy rentacops and also insolated it from real law enforcement that a coverup was easily within his grasp.

We'll just have to wait and see where the final chips fall. of course fallout may be the better word.

Waco, I was a lawyer for 25 years, so I know about evidence. And just because it is inadmissible doesn't mean it's false. The innocent until proven guilty is a legal fiction that only applies in a courtroom. If you apply that standard to everyday life, you will not get anywhere.

Think what you want, but I won't be sending my pre-teen son anywhere near Penn State. So congratulate yourselves all you want on being "tolerant" and "waiting for the evidence." I wonder if you'd be saying the same thing if it was your kid in the shower with Sandusky.

I think we have had enough here. This thread is bouncing all over the place, all of it surrounding a forbidden board topic.... which IS in effect in here.

Oh, STATUTE of limitations, not statue of limitations. Now I get it, that's quite a bit different. Never mind, carry on.

OK then fire him for that mistake ....but don't pile on to him like he was the one who is the pervert.

Joe's been there for 60 years. He put Penn State on the map.
Edmond Burke said, all that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

Every person that knew about this crime and did not notify the police, failed to take the action that would have prevented this freak from raping more children.

Inaction allows evil to triumph. If Sandusky is a typical pedophile, he has probably raped and molested hundreds of little boys over the course of his life. I wonder how many people knew what he was doing and didn't call the police. Maybe he could have been stopped decades ago.

I never said Joe didn't make his mistakes or should not have been fired or even prosecuted for any wrong doings. My point was to remind the mob on here that it wasn't Joe that was the child molester. That rage should be directed at Sandusky not Paterno.
