I regret deflecting the thread back to the OP, as opposed to "dwelling" on the exercise of the ...
... first amendment, butt .... (pun intended) ....
It is small wonder that we have a "weapons epidemic" in this country .. here's the latest Walmart link ..
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ndingMethod=rr
every little turd in the neighborhood needs one .... and several "models" to select ...
.... I just hope the parents don't let them play outside with them so they can point them at cars driving by in the neighborhood .... one less egg to fry ....
If "we" want to modify the "culture" it would be appropriate to start in grade school.

The Dimo's have been modifying the culture for decades through the government school system. They use the government schools to brainwash the kids into believing the government is good and capitalism is evil. It's worked like a charm.

If "education" works for one, it will work for the other, but if an "assault" on the scope of the 2nd amendment is in the making, it seems to me that restricting the distribution of toy "look-a-likes" would not run into constitutional problems ... and would be a beginning to modify "the culture" that that liberals are whining about ... a "win-win" in the debate.
As for "modifications" .. remove them from the "toy" market.
Our kids can watch people being shredded with automatic weapons, but they can't watch porn. They can go into Walmart and buy plastic "look-a-like" automatic "tactical" weapons ... but that can't buy a porn movie.
I would rather my children know how to fuck and suck rather than to kill.

Recently, the trend has been to let the kids know they don't need an education to survive, they can just qualify to get on the government tit, and they will be supported by the rich people who did get an education and were suffiiciently motivated to create wealth by the free enterprise system. Now they get another four years for the lesson to be burned into what is left of their brains, and ...
... when they no longer get to suck on the tit, they will through a tantrum like those kids in the grocery store whose parents to tell "no" at the check out candy racks. cf, Europe.
"We" damn sure can't let THEM get their hands on firearms!!!! They might come after some "tit time"!

What "trend"? Just asking.
As for schools, yes we do have some fucked up schools down here ... so fucked up ....
University of Kansas vs. Texas Fucked Up Schools = 0 to 5.
Rice beat UK
TCU beat UK
Texas beat UK
Baylor beat UK
Texas Tech beat UK.
Now Kansas State University does know how to play football vs. Texas Fucked Up Schools = 1 to 4.
Baylor beat 'em ... KSU beat four Texas schools, including North Texas State.
The problem is academic and overall rankings .... UK is #106 by U.S. News. KSU ... ...lower!
