The Swiss still issue the 1000 Franc note:





Current value is $921 so it's slightly more expensive than the 500 Euro although no were near as large a circulation.

I spent a lot of time in Switzerland and saw these on a couple of occasions changing hands in jewelry shops, casinos, etc. A lot of Swiss still don't like using credit cards so the CHF1000 still gets quite a bit of use. I believe that there are something like 15 million in circulation.
