Default Waco Kid's College Football week 2

What is Waco Kid's Weekly College Football Review? It is an ongoing weekly review of all things College Football!!

Each week upcoming games can be discussed and predictions made, name-calling after victories and general all-around college football discussion! Each week will be closed out by the next Monday and a new thread opened for the current college football schedule for each week.

Rules -

"Rules?? We don't need no stinkin’ rules!”

Actually we do.

WKWCFR rule 1

"Lies, damn lies and statistics!"

British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli

If you quote a stat, record, 3rd down conversion rate, an all-time mark or the number of jock straps an 85-man team needs ...

Post it! If you can't post a link to it, it's bogus!
What's valid in the Internet age? Just about anything! Any of the major sports publications, local newspapers, any of the big networks and official school and NCAA sites just to cover the big ones.

WKWCFR rule 2

Predictions must be posted 1 day in advance! If you haven't read the sports page and figgured out who's going to win by the day before ya never will!

Must be time stamped before Midnight the day before game-day, for any weekly games Thur-Sun on the current weekly schedule.

So there you have it, pretty basic! You can post on general topics of your favorite teams regardless of that week's opponent. Just remember WKWCFR rule 1

Winner: Ohio St.
What part of Pope Urbie II will win, NOW didn't you get last week?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: Kansas St.

Winner: Ohio St.
What part of Pope Urbie II will win NOW didn't you get last week? I wanted to see the Bucks play sharp out of the gate under Meyer and they did. Expect more of the same this week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Kansas St.
This would have been a great game 8 years ago. Today, not so much. Going all in Snyder.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: S Carolina
The old Ball Coach continues on and does what he does. WIN. But watch out Cocks, if the QB or Lattimore gets hurt you don't have much behind them. SC's year depends on Lady Luck as much as the guy with the Visor.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: Clemson
Dabo better build on talent and that big opener against Aubie and bring this one home with a WIN. This is where it gets interesting for Dabo, Tommy Bowden's teams couldn't handle expectations that came with success. At home against Ball St is no time to play flat. Tigers need more than just a win, they need to look sharp while doing it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: VA Tech
Beamerball could play the third string and win on talent alone. don't take an early season L and crash before October, Hokies.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: Michigan
There's nowhere to go but up, Wolverines. Get it done.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: Michigan St.
Sparty goes on the road .. in Michigan .. and takes advantage of their win over the surmfs. Unless their QB coughs up a huge bad game.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: USC
Come on. Not even I could blow this one as Coach. Kiffy rolls against lessor talent. Barkley and Co. will get the points, i want to see Kiffy Sr's defense shows signs of being elite. Or not.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Texas A&M
Sumlin and Reveille bite Will in the ass at Kyle Field. Too bad you aggs can't play all your games at home. Enjoy it while you can. I hear those SEC road trips are killers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Louisville
Going all in with the Ville, my alma mater. UofL has shown it can be a strong program with a good head coach. Problem is they leave. If Strong has success will he bolt also?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: ND
I like Kelly's prospects at ND, even if i hate ND. So ND takes a in-state rival game in this one. Interestingly, several big names like OU and USC need ND back to form this year for their own purposes. ND plays five ranked teams. Short of being in the SEC they might have the toughest schedule in the nation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Alabama
Are you kidding me? Bama rolls. Bet your house on it. And they cover the spread. Saban doesn't lose in his house and his teams don't play flat after a big Win. Forget Bama's run game here's where the QB needs to avoid mistakes and show opponents Bama has balance on offense.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: Wisconsin
Show me some Badgers who can run the ball.Or it's a long season, CheeseHeads.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Fla St.
This is a scrimmage for Free Shoes U.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Oregon

watch out, Ducks, don't let the upset ghost of Pat Hill fuck you up at home.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Oklahoma
No way Bozo drops the home opener to Fla A&M even after that dog of a game down in El Paso..In fact, that's the reason ZerOU rolls. For now.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: TCU
Welcome home Froggies. You roll. Patty + Talent = WIN.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: LSU
don't bet against The Mad Hatter. Going all in with Lester.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: Arkansas
Hogs win this one easy. No sweating bacon yet, Hogheads. I'll let you know when it's time to worry.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: Nebraska
In simpler times this game would be a slam dunk. Still is this year even with Mora making a strong opening start at UCLA. Edge to NU but don't leave your offense in Lincoln, Bo.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Georgia
UGA usually plays well early in the year and they have the better talent. A good test of where both Mizzu fits in in the SEC and UGA is under Richt.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Texas
I said last week Wyoming's passing attack would be a good opening test for UT's defense. The defense as you'd expect for an opener the defense had a few mistakes early but played better in the second half. This week New Mexico gives UT's defense a rushing test which is generally easier to defend. Forget the offense this week, expect the defense to show signs of a dominant unit and shutdown New Mexico.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: OSU
Unless OSU's QB play folds on the road, RichRod doesn't have his talent and system in yet to play offensive ping-pong with UTube Gundy. Expect OSU to win this one on scoring ability alone, defense never was RichRod's strong suit.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Stanford
They say a team improves the most between the first and second games. Stanford looked flat on offense without Luck last week and needs a better offensive game this week if they hope to content in the PAC 12 this year.

Well now, the season shows some smack down right away. Gotta love it, yeah?

Winner: Ohio St.
What part of Pope Urbie II will win NOW didn't you get last week? I wanted to see the Bucks play sharp out of the gate under Meyer and they did. Expect more of the same this week.

UCF 16
14 Ohio St 31
Almost pedestrian for Pope Urbie II, somewhat .. Tressel like LOL. UCF is a good team i actually expected more offense from the Pope but none the less, Meyer does what Meyer does. WIN.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Kansas St.
This would have been a great game 8 years ago. Today, not so much. Going all in Snyder.

Ah the yesteryear of South Beach. Who would have thought Snyder would put a caning on the 'Canes? Again.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: S Carolina
The old Ball Coach continues on and does what he does. WIN. But watch out Cocks, if the QB or Lattimore gets hurt you don't have much behind them. SC's year depends on Lady Luck as much as the guy with the Visor.

E Carolina 10
9 S Carolina 48
This is why The Head Ball Coach is .. the HBC. He just plugs in a QB who throws for 330/3/0. And this with Lattimore stalled out at 40 yards total. But that won't cut it in the SEC, cocks.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Clemson
Dabo better build on talent and that big opener against Aubie and bring this one home with a WIN. This is where it gets interesting for Dabo, Tommy Bowden's teams couldn't handle expectations that came with success. At home against Ball St is no time to play flat. Tigers need more than just a win, they need to look sharp while doing it.

You go Dabo. For now. Style points you get and then some. Just remember T. Bowden got this far .. several times. and the rest is history.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: VA Tech
Beamerball could play the third string and win on talent alone. don't take an early season L and crash before October, Hokies.

Austin Peay 7
15 VA Tech 42
Another "easy" win that could have been a year-killer for Va Tech. Tech pee's on the Peay in this one. Still, Va Tech's bane seems to be offense so even 42-7 doesn't impress me this time of year.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Michigan
There's nowhere to go but up, Wolverines. Get it done.

Did the real UM show up? oh never mind they weren't playing Bama this week. AF has been a good program recently with lots of run game, And let's face it UM needed a WIN. They get one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------11

Michigan St
Winner: Michigan St.
Sparty goes on the road .. in Michigan .. and takes advantage of their win over the surmfs. Unless their QB coughs up a huge bad game.

Sparty perhaps more than any ranked team needed to play sharp this week after last week's QB debacle nearly lost their game with the Smurfs. They look better this week. Still, with only net 173 rushing Sparty might find itself between a rock and a hard place in the Big 10 if their QB has to win one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: USC
Come on. Not even I could blow this one as Coach. Kiffy rolls against lessor talent. Barkley and Co. will get the points, i want to see Kiffy Sr's defense shows signs of being elite. Or not.

Who needs style points? Just win, Baby! didn't Kiffy hear that enough from Davis? And Pete. As stated i wanted to see USC defense. and i didn't like what i saw. Beware Trojans. Defense wins BCS titles, not offense.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Texas A&M
Sumlin and Reveille bite Will in the ass at Kyle Field. Too bad you aggs can't play all your games at home. Enjoy it while you can. I hear those SEC road trips are killers.

24 Florida 20

Texas A&M 17
As usual A&M folds one late. What else is new other than we get TCU on Turkey Day now and you're still losers? Well that ain't new, is it? Ahaha.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Louisville
Going all in with the Ville, my alma mater. UofL has shown it can be a strong program with a good head coach. Problem is they leave. If Strong has success will he bolt also?

Missouri St. 7
23 Louisville 35
No post-UK letdown here! Still don't buy the 'Ville going undefeated but at least there's some excitement in the Derby City that isn't related to horses. Been awhile.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: ND
I like Kelly's prospects at ND, even if i hate ND. So ND takes a in-state rival game in this one. Interestingly, several big names like OU and USC need ND back to form this year for their own purposes. ND plays five ranked teams. Short of being in the SEC they might have the toughest schedule in the nation.

Purdue 17
22 Notre Dame 20
LOL. Poor 'ol Kelly. He wins and gets a QB controversy he didn't want or need. He did win. Barely. LOL. Golson is better if healthy but the Irish should have scored more.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Alabama
Are you kidding me? Bama rolls. Bet your house on it. And they cover the spread. Saban doesn't lose in his house and his teams don't play flat after a big Win. Forget Bama's run game here's where the QB needs to avoid mistakes and show opponents Bama has balance on offense.

W Kentucky 0
1 Alabama 35
What was the spread? Who cares i never bet that crap! Losing bet 9 outta 10. Saban on the other hand is a 99% bet. To WIN.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: Wisconsin
Show me some Badgers who can run the ball.Or it's a long season, CheeseHeads.

13 Wisconsin 7

Oregon St 10
Looks like a long season, you stinky Badgers.Should have called upset here. Where was that tenacious run game, CheeseHeads? Rush the ball or flounder in the Big 10.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Fla St.
This is a scrimmage for Free Shoes U.

Savannah St 0
6 Florida St 55
Easy Peasey. Too easy, Jimbo. this was less than you shoulda won by. Ah yes cruel world, eh Jimmy? This is what you get living under a statue's shadow.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Oregon

watch out, Ducks, don't let the upset ghost of Pat Hill fuck you up at home.

No upset here. Ducks quack loud. There's still plenty of room to sink, Ducks so keep playin'. Or else.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Oklahoma
No way Bozo drops the home opener to Fla A&M even after that dog of a game down in El Paso..In fact, that's the reason ZerOU rolls. For now.

Par for the course Bozo. Remember ZerOU fans, Bob NEVER blows it this early. So live it up while you can.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: TCU
Welcome home Froggies. You roll. Patty + Talent = WIN.

And roll Patty does. TCU as many readers know is my second fav Texas team and i've been about 7-1 picking da Froggies in big games. Speaking if which glad to have ya for Turkey Day this year. Who needs agigies anyway?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: LSU
don't bet against The Mad Hatter. Going all in with Lester.

Washington 3
3 LSU 41
The Mad Hatter don't need no stinkin' Honey Badgers. Yet.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Arkansas
Hogs win this one easy. No sweating bacon yet, Hogheads. I'll let you know when it's time to worry.

It's time to worry, Hogs. QB or not, you were up 28-7. You blew it. Now play for the rest of your season, Losers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: Nebraska
In simpler times this game would be a slam dunk. Still is this year even with Mora making a strong opening start at UCLA. Edge to NU but don't leave your offense in Lincoln, Bo.

16 Nebraska 30

UCLA 36
Bo didn't leave his offense, he did leave his defense and gets burned by Mora. If Mora had one more game under his belt i'd have bet against the bugeaters. Don't forget Bruins there's a lot of football till Nov 17, yeah?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Georgia
UGA usually plays well early in the year and they have the better talent. A good test of where both Mizzu fits in in the SEC and UGA is under Richt.

7 Georgia 41

Missouri 20
UGA looks good for an early league game. Mizzu will struggle for .500 while Richt gets no slack unless he wins the SEC. Who'd you rather be? Richt or Pinknel?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Texas
I said last week Wyoming's passing attack would be a good opening test for UT's defense. The defense as you'd expect for an opener the defense had a few mistakes early but played better in the second half. This week New Mexico gives UT's defense a rushing test which is generally easier to defend. Forget the offense this week, expect the defense to show signs of a dominant unit and shutdown New Mexico.

I liked this game but didn't like this game. Shutout against rush team. Check. Less than 200 rush yards i didn't like. On the upside Ash needed to be vetted a bit. he passed the test, this time.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winner: OSU
Unless OSU's QB play folds on the road, RichRod doesn't have his talent and system in yet to play offensive ping-pong with UTube Gundy. Expect OSU to win this one on scoring ability alone, defense never was RichRod's strong suit.

WTF happened here, 'Pokes?? Those 4 TD's were nice from that FROSH QB. Those 3 INT's not so nice. And before you blame the QB for 60 throws (and the 3 INT's) what's up with ZERO net rushing yards?? ZERO.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winner: Stanford
They say a team improves the most between the first and second games. Stanford looked flat on offense without Luck last week and needs a better offensive game this week if they hope to content in the PAC 12 this year.

Duke 13
25 Stanford 50
The new Stanford is the old Stanford. This week. How LUCKY will you be next week? Tell you what i'm picking USC. Now.

No, you dense agro-american, I was trying to give you a freebie lead in to say something spiffy about KSU by taking the KSP and running with it.

Oh well, you can lead a horse to water but you can't give a OAMC alum a quick functioning brain.

Keed, a Top 5 finish this year for the Sooners may be a bit optimistic unless the offense can all get on the same page. Our "D" came out tough and will improve unless injuries screw our pooch, so we'll be in every game. The FAMHS bunch game turned out like the usual Div I via Div IA (I refuse to use the new labeling system - I'm old) contract scrimmage. Hopefully, your main man, Bob, can do a better job than cpl-j's Daddy Gundy in explaining to the troops the difference between a contracted scrimmage and an actual football game.

BTW, how are the 'Bonghorns' dealing with being the third best SWC team in the Big 12?
