Having worked for years in communications I find that a text message takes about 22 milliseconds to transmit. So even when communications by voice can't get through a text message will "squeeze" through. My problem with text messages is it takes 10 minutes to conduct the exchange.I send a message and wait for you to respond then I send a reply and wait for a reply from you. This takes about 10 minutes of our time. If you can't talk to me I can leave a message if your voice mail box is not full. Than at your convenience you can call me back. Emails are good as I can send you a message and when you get to the computer you can answer me. All in all I like to hear the sexy voice on the phone.....

I am unsure as to what phone provider was involved (prepaid or regular service provider) .

I know that if you have a cricket phone you can still receive texts when service is cut off due to non payment, T Mobil also, but I don't think they are disposable phones.
With my phone It is disposable and I have unlimited texts, but only 400 minutes talking time per a 30 day period.

I've also noticed that when i speak with or communicate by text with someone using a cricket phone, I get weird telemarketing automated messages/calls sometime later.

I've never noticed that, maybe its because they have their email tied into their phone and they've been hacked. I don't use my web on this phone for that reason.

You can go to any dollar general, convenience store and buy a phone that you pay for everything when you buy it, you just call and activate it with a number and no personal info. They are usually about 35.00, once you run out of minutes you can add to it by buying a new card to reload it or throw it away and buy a new phone.
My phone is throw away, but if I throw it away and buy a new one I would have a new number every month, so for me it is easier to just reload it.
