We have used more than a few civilian spots in Austin and all who are invited to attend know well in advance if the venue is too risky for them to be seen there in our august company.
Those who behave properly should have no fear being in a public place. "Someone thought they'd like to meet some of the folks there."
Heck, I have been caught literally red-handed "interviewing" more than a few YLs in San Antonio coffee shops when a close friend of my s.o. walked in and said hello.
I merely introduced "Sandy" as someone with an interest who the Navy referred to me so I could glad to answer some recruiting questions. (Truthful aspect since I am retired Navy.) Were Sandy too old to enlist (in the service), then I am answering questions to her as a parent of a student interested in the Naval Academy. Or something close to that.
