I have several black girlfriends and I'm a racist.
To answer the question in the original article, it is irrelevant whether Ryan had an AA if or not.
It is also well known that different generations of immigrants can show a strong antagonism towards the next generation. So the first mexican immigrants look down on recent immigrants. In my country, west indian immigrants from the 50's/60's are very antagonistic towards recent African immigrants.
Its' all about climbing the ladder and kicking those beneath you.

The first Mexican immigrants were not immigrants but were already here. The first immigrants go back over 100 years.

Here are all the definitions of racism I could find. NOT ONE of them says that racism is always directed at a minorities.
rac·ism/ˈrāˌsizəm/

2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.
r ac·ism
noun \ˈrā-ˌsi-zəm also -ˌshi-\

When one talks of sociology, political science, or philosophy, you run for Webster's. Well, at least it explains a lot.
How about this: “culturally sanctioned beliefs, which, regardless of intentions involved, defend the advantages whites have because of the subordinated position of racial minorities”.
David Wellman, Racism in America.
And you missed what, even at the time I was in college, was the best counter argument to the racism can only be directed at a minority group argument. The best counter was South Africa during the apartheid era. But I was taught that the proper tem for group feelings against msjority groups was reverse racism and that that phenomena had different roots to some degree. As I think I said in the initial pos, I don't know where that accademic debate is now.

Well yes, when I want to know the meaning of a word, I do go to a dictionary; I'm funny that way. For the record, I minored in Sociology.
Back to the main point, anyone can be a racist. The New Black Panthers are racists, just as much as the Ku Klux Klan; they may be worse.

much like many other redefinitions of late for the purpose of change and control and teaching children and the re-casting of history, the idea that one must be in the majority to be a racist is a relatively recent idea designed for the displacement of one group and the empowerment of another. it is, in effect, a racist idea in and of itself.

The left is very good about manipulating language. Back in the nineteen twenties, the two extremes of political views were known as conservative (on the right) and radical (on the left). People with moderate views were known as liberals. The radicals began to refer to themselves as liberals in order to disguise their true nature. Later they called themselves progressives, after liberal had become stigmatized.
