rather than mix business characteristics, rates, market economics, etc.,
i think it all boils down to ...

if you take care of your clients/customers/whateverYouWantToCallThem,
then that may increase the probability that they will return when they want your service/product in the future.

it wont guarantee that they'll return, but they'll probably remember how good you were. and maybe tell their friends or acquaintances.

if a business person isnt interested in learning about and applying good business practices and instead wants to do what they find good for them, then so be it. no harm, no foul. it's their business.

however, if i suggest to a restaurant or small business owner or entrepreneur something that i learned in an "how to operate a business effectively" class or course, do you really think they'd say "i'll start taking business advice from a customer about the 12th of never."???

just say, thanks but no thanks. no need to tell them to buzz off, even if that's what you think.
cos, do you really want your clients to know how you feel about things like that?
goes back to customer communication and service, at least in my book.

kinda reminds me of one of the most amazingly stupid things i ever heard in the software world.
back in 2003, during a staff meeting w/ 30+ folks in attendance, one of the developers said that he knew of a great testing framework that could really help out the development and testing teams.
the software team lead said "i've never heard of that package so i dont think it would do us any good!" [pretty close as i've slept a few times in the past 9 yrs].
REALLY!!! did you really mean to show how close minded you are to all your developers, requirements, testing teams, tech writers as well as your manager and your manager's manager?????

i left that project about a month later. one of the most dysfunctional teams i ever worked with.

Well still only 12 responses 10 male and 2 female.

Any thoughts on the results so far?

Lots of interesting comments and I have not seen Fritz "toasting" too many people yet!
