In the presidential election in 1800, Thomas Jefferson was running against John Adams. Jefferson accused Adams of being a hermaphrodite. John Adams was the incumbent; so that would have made him our first hermaphrodite president. Too bad Newsweek wasn't around back then. It would have made a great cover story.
