As usual, you make my argument for me. You say government programs don't discriminate. Unfortunately, you're absolutely right. They don't discriminate between the truly needy and the freeloaders who take advantage of the system, the people who are able to work but would rather live off of their neighbors.

Conservatives want private sector charities administering programs helping the poor so that fraud can be controlled and so that 80% of the donated money can go to the poor instead of 30%.

After trillions of dollars in wealth transfer, government social welfare programs have failed at eliminating poverty. They have created a permanent underclass of freeloaders addicted to welfare. The welfare addicts have lost, not only their work ethic, but also their self respect.

Democrats continue to support the social welfare state, in it's current form, because it's a way of buying votes. It's not about compassion. It's all about power.
