Why not just nationalize the oil that is present but not leased and set the market price here in the US and again you can keep saying it will take X number of years but if you never start it never happens. X>never.

Clinton put our reserves on the open market adding to the global market. lowering the price short term ... we never intended to sell them
I noticed today the US and the Brits are talking about doing the same, that could lower the price based on speculation, later this year look for the US and the Brits to put all their reserves on the open market, Clintonesque, if you will.
tantamount to drilling holes all over the country, neither are long term fixes

Yes, it would take some time for the oil in ANWAR, etc. to reach the consumer. That is what the argument has always been, for well over ten years. Had we done the right thing and began drilling in ANWAR 10 years ago, guess what? The gasoline would be here by now.

Obama - and the western economies - could announce they intend to challenge OPEC's price fixing scheme in the World Courts.........the announcmement alone would send speculative pricing downward.

Obama could announce he intends to open up off shore drilling leases; yes, along the entire eastern and western coastlines.........the annoucement alone would drive down speculative pricing over night.

That annoucmenet alone would lower speculative prices.

Obama could announce his intention to call off the EPA war against carbon and particularly air quality standards that are driving coal operated electricty plants out of the market.
That annoucement alone would drive down the speculative market.

But Obama won't do any of these things; he is very happy with the burden of higher prices for gas on the car driving middle class.
