That was a limited, tactical strike that rescued an American merchant marine that was taking his ship through worldwide, statically important waters. It’s worlds apart from boots on the ground in Libya and the over a hundred million dollars spent for missiles we fired at Libya when we deferred to the French.

I’m not hatin’ on you, but it is a compound sentence. The comma is required. Without the comma you would either have to separate the two independent clauses by dropping and and then use either a semicolon or a period.

To answer the question, no I do not think we should go to war for other peoples’ oil without tribute. If we are expected to be Rome, which I have no problem with, then we should take our tribute as Rome did. In any event, the world needs to quit being quasi vassals or shut up about American dominance and stop calling asked for American military intervention aggression.
