You're in Dallas, right? I happen to know there are some great wine shops around the city. My suggestion is to branch away from grocery store wines and get to know a local wine shop! You'll be surprised by the truly delicious wines you can find at a local shop, many under $20. Plus, if you are lucky, you'll be able to ask the owner/worker to help you find a wine based on what you're cooking or what your tastes are. Truly a rewarding experience!

If you're gonna stick with grocery store wines, Bogle Petit Syrah is on of my faves, but I also look for wines where only a few are left on the shelf... Generally means you've found one at a good price and one that many other people like! A "crowd-sourcing" trick. Just keep an eye out, and you'll notice what I'm talking about.
