close enough to downtown is very sketchy. as a tourist, I'd say the closest without taking a room at a casino along the Fremont Street Experience would be to pick the Stratosphere. the weeklies near downtown are below ghetto (esp along east fremont).

south of there, Circus Circus and Riviera are dumps but it's the north end of the strip. Imperial Palace is also a dump but closer to the center strip.

If you do end up picking a casino/hotel, do a google search on resort fees in las vegas. Any stay of a few days or more and those daily resort fees add up.

Alternatives are the weeklies like Motel 6, Budget Suites, Siegel Suites. While it shouldn't have to be mentioned, I recall hearing that the two Budget Suites on west tropicana closest to the strip have an $80 deposit on bed sheets.

There's a pretty good provider community here in vegas and I'd say talk to Miss Logan about relocating here (along with any of our active provider ad posters). A majority of the appointments tend to be outcalls to the strip (catering to conventioneers and tourists).
