There were two recent articles in the Houston Press regarding the gross exaggeration of the number of purported "sex trafficking victims". What this preposterous turd doesn't mention is that current laws criminalizing certain commercial transactions between consenting adults facilitates the victimization of women - whether minor or adult - by pimps and predators. This shit doesn't happen much in place like Australia where prostitution is legal and regulated.

Same thing with drug violence. Whenever I see a story about it, I think to myself, "I never see thugs shooting it out in the streets in a dispute over a Budweiser distributorship."

He had me for a few minutes and then he started rambling on about nonsense. I mean when he started talking about putting the customers in jail.. that is overboard.

I've been to plenty of AMP's. And I'm sure there is human trafficking in Houston, but he makes it sound like every "house of prostitution" in Houston has underage girls in it. I've never walked in an AMP and the mamma said "you want a young'n?"

All I do know is that every Kim Son restaurant in Houston has a AMP within walking distance.. go figure.

I own a home in the 2nd congressional district of Texas, which Ted Poe is the representative.

He was a MF on the bench in Harris County District Court. I know a few who did some time under his direction.

Maybe he has been to these massage parlors as a customer a time or two. I hope so. I feel better if he speaks from first hand knowledge.

What Poe failed to connect is this: He stated fairly early on that 25% of the over seas underage sex customers (the men that go to see them) are from the USA.

If those men cannot find it here locally then they will go someplace overseas. Now if thet know of a country where it is legal to find young women then they will go there.

I am all for shutting down the sex trafficking / Sex slave stuff... if the place is an agency and the girls get the lions share of the $$$ and the agency handles screening, provides a place for her to work... but she can quit at any time.. leave them and the indie's alone.

Poe is a good guy. He's been my congressman for a while now and he was great as a judge. I like the guy. If you like conservative representatives, he's your man.

I have met Ted Poe. Like the rest of us, he's not perfect. But there is lot to like about this man. He has been on the right side of a lot of issues. I have been a supporter. He is a stand up guy. But I think he is wrong and misguided on this issue, and I will tell him this the next time he wants my support. I wish conservative politicians would learn to embrace their Libertarian roots instead of falling prey to the influence of the moral majority (which is really neither moral nor a majority).
