Default Waco Kid's College Football Week 1

What is Waco Kid's Weekly College Football Review? It is an ongoing weekly review of all things College Football!!

Each week upcoming games can be discussed and predictions made, name-calling after victories and general all-around college football discussion! Each week will be closed out by the next Monday and a new thread opened for the current college football schedule for each week.

Rules -

"Rules?? We don't need no stinkin’ rules!”

Actually we do.

WKWCFR rule 1

"Lies, damn lies and statistics!"

British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli

If you quote a stat, record, 3rd down conversion rate, an all-time mark or the number of jock straps an 85-man team needs ...

Post it! If you can't post a link to it, it's bogus!
What's valid in the Internet age? Just about anything! Any of the major sports publications, local newspapers, any of the big networks and official school and NCAA sites just to cover the big ones.

WKWCFR rule 2

Predictions must be posted 1 day in advance! If you haven't read the sports page and figgured out who's going to win by the day before ya never will!

Must be time stamped before Midnight the day before game-day, for any weekly games Thur-Sun on the current weekly schedule.

So there you have it, pretty basic! You can post on general topics of your favorite teams regardless of that week's opponent. Just remember WKWCFR rule 1

how 'bout Zerou loses. and leave it at that.
and while we're on the subject of losers, what makes A&M think they can win? anywhere?? they'll still lose. U faggies must think Bear Bryant's still your coach.
Word out today says Texas actually wanted A&M in on the Longhorn Network and Billy Bryne wasn't interested. Then he comes sniffing around too late when he realized he made a mistake. And then him and that sawed off gayass bowtie wearing little pipsqueak Bowen now claim the Longhorn Network as a reason they want to leave.

“It’s not about what we did,” Dodds said. “It’s about what they didn’t do — create their own network.”

Ah, the things we do for you little sister, and ya jilt us anyway, runnin'
off with them big burly studmuffins in the SEC. Well!!

from what I am hearing up here, a$m will not get their tv money, somewhere around $20 mil but will still owe another $18

annnnnnnd they are still in a hole for building too many suites that are unsold

somewhere I read today they will actually lose money traveling to the SEC, ie minor sports

I said Baylor was dangerous, wasn't sure if Baylor could hold on. They nearly gave it up but TCU had no biz letting da Bears get that far ahead of them.

Enjoy that win because you can not give 48 points a game and win against other teams in the Big 12. Once again Baylor can not close a game 25-3 in the fourth quater.

Don't believe the BU Hype!

Well let's pick the Top 25 for Week 1!

Thursday, Sep 1

UNLV
11 Wisconsin

Winner: Wisconsin
If this was Nevada it'd be an interesting opening test for the Badgers, alas it's UNLV .. in Madison. bring the body bags.

UNLV 17
11 Wisconsin 51
The Badgers are one of the few top teams with an experienced QB, even if Wilson hasn't played Wisconsin's offense longer he could give Badgers a serious shot at the Big Crystal Ball.

20 Miss St
Memphis

Winner: Miss St
Success .. is the fastest known death there is. Now we see if Mullen can win consistently .. or not. But he opens with a W.

20 Miss St 59
Memphis 14
Mullen continues to bring offense to da Bulldoggies, will he miss Diaz on defense when SEC play begins?

Friday, Sep 2

Youngst'n St
17 Michigan St

Winner: Michigan St
This must be a "State Title" game LOL. Youngstown .. seem to recall .. ah yes. Tressel!!! LOL. Sparty also opens with a W but much to prove if they want to be elite.

Youngst'n St 6
17 Michigan St 28
About right for an opener, Sparty has enough weapons on offense to be a threat in the Big Ten.

14 TCU
Baylor

Winner: TCU
Typical gutsy move to open on the road against dangerous (w Griffin) Baylor for da Frogs. Luck 'O the Irish, Patty.

14 TCU 48
Baylor 50
Did I say dangerous? I did. Someone highly ranked was likely to get upset outta the gate, this one had "Danger Will Robinson, Danger!!" all over it.

Saturday, Sep 3

Utah St
23 Auburn

Winner: Auburn
without Fig Newton War Eagles will drop off this year. how sharp? Not so bad to lose your opener at home.

Utah St 38
23 Auburn 42
Auburn was lucky to pull this out. They say the biggest improvement for a team is between the first and second game. Let's hope so Gene or hunker down for a tough year on the plains.

Akron
18 Ohio St

Winner: Ohio St
The Luke Skywalker era begins in the Land of Buckeye.

Akron 0
18 Ohio St 42
I'll say it now. Ohio St. doesn't have the guts nor class under E. Gordo "Little Sisters of the poor" Gee to make the right call - if the Buckeyes play well this year give the job to Skywalker .. er Fickell.

Miami (OH)
21 Missouri

Winner: Missouri
Can you finally win now that Bo went elsewhere, Gary?

Miami (OH) 6
21 Missouri 17
Looks like you have some work to do on offense before league play, Mizzu.

Kent St
2 Alabama

Winner: Alabama
Saban's Alma mater comes to town for their big check .. and butt kicking.

Kent St 7
2 Alabama 48
Of the top teams today, 'Bama does not have an elite, experienced QB. At some point this season they pay for that and lose.

Appalach St
13 VA Tech

Winner: VA Tech
Appy State has slayed the maze and blue in the big house, can they do it again? Nope, Beamerball gets a W to start at least.

Appalach St 13
13 VA Tech 66
Well done Hokies, you've started slow before and it's cost you. So far, so good, So What?

Minnesota
25 USC

Winner: USC
Lane Kiffy might just win the PAC 12 this year. Not sure what he'll do with the "invisible" Trophy. Ah! put it next to Reggie's "invisible" Heisman!

Minnesota 17
25 USC 19
Did I say these dogs might win the PAC 12? Not playing like this they won't. Kiffy (Jr and Sr) also hopes USC improves .. Now.

LA Monroe
6 Florida St

Winner: Florida St
Do Bobby proud Jimbo. Just Win.

LA Monroe 0
6 Florida St 34
While no one liked the way the Bowden era ended, I like what I see of the Jimbo era so far. Jimbo doesn't shy away from what Bowden did at FSU, more importantly for u 'Noles he knows if Bowden can do it so can he. That's the guy u MUST have to follow a legend.

Chattanooga
10 Nebraska

Winner: Nebraska
You go, bugeaters. This should tell one thing early, does Bo know .. Offense?

Chattanooga 7
10 Nebraska 40
Well Bo knows offense after all. Against a D2 opening-day patsy. Now do that for 8 weeks in the Big Ten.

S Florida
16 Notre Dame

Winner: Notre Dame
Irish Kelly wins this opener old school. with defense.

S Florida 23
16 Notre Dame 20
Would have loved to pick ND to lose if only because i hate ND. While S Fla had a rep under Leavitt of winning big games (only to lose to a nobody next week), they are now coached by Skippy the bastard son of the redheaded pipsqueak. If only somehow they BOTH lost?

San Jose St
7 Stanford

Winner: Stanford
The "guy who replaced Harbaugh" era begins for the Cardinal. Hey Andrew .. you feel Lucky?

San Jose St 3
7 Stanford 57
Given the "egg" the Ducks laid, pencil in the Cardinal as the frontrunner to win the PAC 12. This week at least.

LA Lafayette
9 Okla St

Winner: Okla St
YouTube Gundy needs his offense .. to be a man! and score.

LA Lafayette 34
9 Okla St 61
And score you do, Gundy. Looks like your new OC can read a playbook after all. Just watch those turnovers, that's a loss waiting to happen against better teams.

E Carolina
12 S Carolina

Winner: S Carolina
Going all in with Steve Superior. This week.

E Carolina 37
12 S Carolina 56
Who knows? next week if his QB's aren't playing well the 'Ol Ball Coach might suit up himself.

Missouri St.
15 Arkansas

Winner: Arkansas
RazorBack Bobby breaks in a new QB for you piggies. Better learn fast the big bad SEC awaits.

Missouri St. 7
15 Arkansas 51
Nice start piggies, just remember Bobbo's Achilles heel. Defense.

Fla Atlantic
22 Florida

Winner: Florida
Can Willy handle FatAss Weis' ego? Can FatAss Weis turn J Brantley into T Brady? Stay tuned boys and girls.

Fla Atlantic 3
22 Florida 41
AS expected Brantley did look much better in an offense more suited to his skills. But he ain't T Brady yet.

3 Oregon
4 LSU

Winner: LSU
Distracted Ducks open flat, even without a QB Lester pulls another rabbit outta his hat.

3 Oregon 27
4 LSU 40
Told ya. Ducks sink in Jerry's pond. Lester does what he does. Win. Mikey roars.

This just in: Miles can coach, can't spell "Geaux"

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...n_coach_090411

Tulsa
1 Oklahoma

Winner: Oklahoma
This is your year, Bobbo. isn't it? We'll see just don't lose a QB in your opener .. again.

Tulsa 14
1 Oklahoma 47
Big Game Bozo doesn't lose at home, he just loses wherever they play a BCS Title game.

5 Boise St
19 Georgia

Winner: Boise St
Richt is on the hot seat at UGA, it'd be a "trendy" pick to go with UGA but Boise has a veteran team. They get outta GA with a W to open.

5 Boise St 35
19 Georgia 21
UGA showed some spark on offense even when down 21-7 just not enough against a veteran team like the Smurfies.

S... D... S... U... SDSU Fight Fight Fight

Hillman for Heisman, though he will likely get overlooked like another SDSU running back did, Marshall Faulk.

Tests on the road against Army and Michigan will show how these guys handle bigger games. They already showed they could compete against TCU in Fort Worth last year.

Final
Box Score
And score you do, Gundy. Looks like your new OC can read a playbook after all. Just watch those turnovers, that's a loss waiting to happen against better teams.

1/2nd string defense allowed 6 points

Weedens first interception was kinda funky, rolled around on our guys backs for like 5 secs but the others he was forcing the ball

How about Q Sharp? with Bailey making the Cowboy, Sharp should be drafted, almost all the kickoffs were deep into the end zone and not returned and he hit a 46yd fg (hit a 62yd in a scrimmage)

Lest we forget the late weekend games ..

Sunday, Sep 4

Marshall
24 W Virginia

Winner: W Virginia
Dana "Wildman" Holgerson brings his machismo and offense to Morgantown.

Looks like all that could stop DH's offense was a thunderstorm. DH will have his moments good and bad at WVa but his offense will take WVa farther than Stewy could.

SMU
8 Texas A&M

Winner: Texas A&M
Don't let JuneBug spoil your "breakout" year, Shermy. We'll miss ya'll on Thanksgiving. Have some turkey and stuff it. Your friends in Austin.

SMU 14
8 Texas A&M 46

Well done little sister, enjoy your Big 12 farewell tour. Ask yourself this: Is Shermy a great or merely good coach? Is he better than Nicky, Gino, Petrino or Lester? Or Mullen, Willy M or Richt? He better be, because especially in the big bad SEC merely good doesn't get you a shot at the big crystal ball.
