Exclamation Hurricane Tips

some of you are going to get first hand experience with a hurricane, most of you northern people have no idea of what's coming. there could be a shortage of food and water, not to mention no electricity for several days. here are a few tips for weathering a hurricane. if you've never done this, it's could be an experience, sometimes very bad.

1. you can pack your washing machine with ice, it will act as a fridge for a while.
2. stock up in canned food and bottled water ( have a manual can opener )
3. store lawn items and outside items out of the wind, they become projectiles in high winds
4. drinking water can be sanitized by using 1 tablespoon bleach to 1 gallon of water
5. fill lots of containers with water ( each person needs 1 gallon water per day )
6. put your important documents in zip lock bags, birth certificates, deeds, banking info, etc.
7. have a few hundred dollars cash on hand, things are about to get expensive, there are some price gouging ass holes out there, and they will take advantage of the situation.

the best thing you can do is get about 100 miles inland.

take all the precautions you can and good luck.

If Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel shows up in your home town, it is the Apocalypse

Also, the media will over-hype the storm. Not to downplay the excellent advise from Papa Joe, but the media likes to look for the bad in everything. As we have already witnessed, Irene was mostly all bark and very little bite. 9 out of 10 times, this is the case with these storms. Once Irene got north of Georgia, it was nothing more than a summer time Nor'Easter-- something most folk on the Atlantic are well aware of.
