Default Used Tires

Anyone know of a shop that deals in used tires. I had a place I used in El Paso and had great luck and would like to do the same here. Would prefer not to drop $2000 on new tires for my two vehicles.

Thanks

I don't have a specific person, however most dealerships have a guy come around once a week and pick up tires that the dealers had to replace. I would call a dealer that sells the same make as your vehicle, (Service mgr. should know.. ) and just ask who buys their used tires. The dealership can't sell you them, (so expect a lil sales pitch.. of course) but should know who picks them up for them. OR, you may get lucky and just go to the dealer.. drive around to where they are working on vehicles and just ask a tech for what you need. Bring cash. Don't talk to anyone other than a tech though. If they say no, there is no harm is just asking anyway... Hope that helps!

There's a few places over in Garland. I've gotten a set from Longhorn Tires, I forget the actual intersection. Unfortunately I had one de-laminate the entire tread at highway speed. That kinda sucked

Plenty on Ebay. Limitless choices. Even paying freight there are good deals.

Yup, there are a bunch of shops on Harry Hines.

Also, try TireRack.com for new tires. You can get them balanced and installed at most of those shops on HH for $10 or less each.

FYI, after about five years tires start to go to shit. The rubber oxidizes and gets hard and eventually starts to crack. As they harden they loose their grip and can be dangerous especially in the wet. With cracking ,they are prone to separation. There is a date of manufacture on the side of all tires. When buying used tires always check to see how old they are. There are many new tires that are not expensive and are reliable. IMHO generally a new inexpensive tire is better than an old ( over 5 years ) used tire .

Just drive up Garland road between Jupiter and Ave B (Forest Rd) or First Street in Garland. What ain't selling used cars is selling used tires. Lot of them sell both. There is a fairly big used tire shop at First Street and Lavon Highway (State Highway 78) in Garland.

There is this mexican tire shop i used to go to on garland road, past the old Walmart/Hypermart and right past all those mexican car dealerships. I cant remember the name, but it was all painted blue and you cant miss all the tires.

They used to have great stuff for good prices. I used to by tires for my Z28 from them for dirt cheap.
