I know several here have mentioned getting the debt under control. From the campaign it sounded like Musk could be put in charge of making government more efficient. There have been thoughts Musk would like to get rid of 2 trillion dollars of government spending.
I think this could be a thing to get a robust debate going. Being a political outsider might help cut down all the entrenched automatic opposition to any spending cut.
It will still be tough to get to much through Congress though, but I think this could be good.

Actually both parties will resist as there is a lot of power they would give up.
If they really want to cripple the swamp, they would basically do a flat income tax too.

Well, for reasons you and a couple of others here elucidated, I think he's going to have a very hard time cutting much fat. Just seems to be the nature of the American beast, I guess. So I'm afraid that we can only enjoy a cup of weak tea, when what's needed is a strong cup of espresso.
