We lost an icon. Carl Weathers was a phenomenal talent, a true professional, and a dear friend. All my sympathies and love to his family. I loved working with him on Predator and then celebrating that film with him at various conventions in the ensuing years. Thank you, Carl.

ironically i was watching Rocky III where Weathers, already an experienced boxer taught Rocky how to really box and beat Mr T when news of his passing broke.

RIP Apollo Creed

... I read about this bloke awhile-back.

... He was said to be a GREAT (American) football player
who could of played in the NFL as defence-back, safety
or what-not, had he not gone-into acting.

... Just sayin'

Weathers did play in the NFL, he was with the Raiders for two seasons and then the CFL for a few years. wasn't a star player but did get in some games.

that's farther than most people get.

he turned to acting full time when his career in football ended.

Weather's really looked his parts.
He really looked the part of a boxer and mercenary types. But played other roles very well.
