At the American cemetery in Normandy, French caretakers will have collected sand from Omaha Beach and rubbed it into the gravestones to highlight the names of the departed.

They do this for all 9,388 soldiers who lay there just like this:

My Father was there, he was in the Navy and did the landing craft.

He never discussed it my Mother told me.

He has 4 Battle Stars. I have his ribbon with 3 Stars I don’t know what happed to the other Star.
He quit High School to join he served 4 years.

All are Hero’s!
