Why would they hate that? It's literally free money for them. Let's pretend your job was to do tax prep for $200/hr. Then a client comes and just sits there. Its a free $200 for you. This is no different unless this type of stuff is their passion. From what I know, they do this for money, and only money.

They hate it because it makes them feel undesirable. Regardless of them doing it for money, it reflects bad on them and they can become self conscious about that.

I mean... when someone else gets selected for certain projects at work, sure it hits the pride a little but at the end of the day, I avoided work but still get the paycheck. I don't get why thats a bad thing
