laptop to cell phone hot spot help!
heres the deal
I have no internet for 3 weeks.. Vexus, my internet provider, has terrible tech support. Last week, I called them about it. they said it was a server issue, was going to send a tech to reset it. would take a week. waited a week. no internet. made another call this week. they were supposed to call when they get to us. don't know when tho.
so heres the equipment I have.
Laptop with windoze 10
netgear router
DSL modem
LG Tribute Empire
telephone that uses both landline and internet.
so how do I set up a hotspot so that the laptop get the internet via cellphone's internet.
sources say I need a router for that, understand that requires re configuring it to a "repeater" or "bridge".
I do have another router, a linksys that I have not used. it was a back up in case the netgear router got bricked permanently if the firmware install wasn't fixed.
others say a dedicated hotspot does the job.

It's an android phone right? I do this all the time with my Sammy Note20. Go into settings/connections/mobile hotspot and tethering. Turn on the mobile hotspot. Now go to your laptop. There should be a wifi network showing in the list that is your phone. Connect to it. Now the laptop has internet. This may be limited by your phone provider and some plans won't let you hotspot. So you may need to check with the phone provider.

My cell phone has the capability. Look under settings, connections and see if you have a hot spot option may need to call you cell phone provider and upgrade, or activate the hot spot option.
Check the name in your Android cell phone, and turn on Hotspot. Open laptop, search your Hotspot name. Enter the password.
I do not have home internet. I only use my Hotspot. I have a family plan and a dedicated android phone I use has my home Hotspot. My internet access is more reliable than it was with cable.
It's really easy. If I can do it any one can.

These graphical configurations are automatically set when the FSO is reinstalled. If they bother you, then you can change them from the settings. Parameters are uploaded from the FSO module. The STO drive is active.

They indicated blinking RUN and STATUS / FAULT LEDs. You can exit the Configuration mode by downloading the new configuration to the FSO or rebooting the FSO. Let me ask you if, after the reinstallation, you did not lose the previous data because, in my case, it was, and I had to implement a DATA RECOVERY action.

You push one button on my iPhone to do this. I do it all the time at work to connect my laptop. Pretty fast with 5g too, no difference that I can discern between that and hardwired into my home Fios service.

I very canceled all internet a d only use my Hotspot on my cell phone.
If your a gamer or watch a lot of TV the most cell carriers have a limit on hot spot data. My cell phone goes off contract in August and I plan to review other plans to see what is avail at that time.
I too am on a family plan with Att. I have a dedicated home cellphone that is designated as my Hotspot phone. I never have am issue streaming a TV show or a movie.
Might want to look at t-mobile as they have a wireless internet service for around $50.
Compared to the home internet service I canceled the cell phone Hotspot has worked well. Just need to make sure you stay within the Hotspot data plans.

I have used the hotspot as backup internet and does work as advertised.
I only wish that the hot spot worked with captioncall.
