It would seem that Smollet’s lawyers are in a Quagmire.

A defendant has every right to testify in his own trial, under oath. However, the defendant does not have the right to lie to the jury.

This is exactly what Smollet did.

An Attorney has the obligation to defend his client under all circumstances within the law. This means that if he has knowledge of his clients perjury, he is bound as an officer of the court to either report it, or be recused from the case without prejudice.

Smollet s lawyers must be the only people on the planet who believes Smollet did not lie if they insist on having no knowledge of his perjury.

The Judge should hold all of this in account upon sentencing. What could be a sentence of community service and a stiff fine might turn into years in jail. Smollet purposely has shown contempt for our judicial system throughout this sordid affair. He must think he is invulnerable.

The Judge should do the right thing. 5 years minimum.

By the way. That entire entourage that you see following Jussie will probably dry up when his checking account hits zero.

there is special dispensation given to minorities, especially blacks in blue states, by woke white guilt ridden officials trying to earn points and especially so for "celebrities" or if racism is screamed loud enough

justice there is not blind

so the perjury, lying to the jury, might not ever be prosecuted, but it might as a lot of the gloss has been rubbed off smollett

the judge may use it, however, when considering punishment for the 5 charges for which Smollett was convicted

Why would anyone be surprised by this? The last 4-5 incidences of someone writing racial insults at local high schools were all proven to be black students. BLM is teaching them to create issues if there aren't any
